Being a person isn’t easy right now — and, let’s be real, Twitter isn’t helping. 

Whether you find yourself social media surfing to kill time or glued to the news to stay informed, doomscrolling is the pandemic-era activity we all should be doing a little less. It’s not good for our mental health, and as we all know too well, it doesn’t actually fix anything.

So, to infuse your feed with a little extra joy, here are 10 Twitter accounts to follow that consistently post things that make us smile. No more, no less, just a little reprieve from this mess.

1. “Big Ben” (@big_ben_clock)

The unofficial Twitter account of England’s most iconic time-piece, @big_ben_clock shares hourly updates from the heart of London. Start each and every hour with the clock tower’s iconic “BONG BONG BONG.” At worst, you’ll find yourself keeping better track of the time. At best, you’ll enjoy a little smile every time you catch this super simple, but still excellent joke passing by. 

2. “A bear” (@A_single_bear)

There’s never been a better time for appreciating the simple things in life, a practice @A_single_bear has perfected since joining Twitter in 2013. Follow along as an anonymous bear shares updates from their day, like how warm their belly feels in the sun and how exciting it is to find a wet blanket. Just never forget, they are a bear.

With 1.2 million followers on Twitter and surprisingly hopping Discord, @WholesomeMemes is one of the most popular curators of nice internet jokes out there. Always optimistic with a special emphasis on self-care, this is a good one if you need a reminder that everything is going to be OK.
