SAVE $25.01: As of June 14, the Google Nest Audio is on sale at Walmart for just $74.98 — that’s 25% off its suggested retail price of $99.99.

We interrupt your usual Alexa-packed programming this Prime Day season to bring you an amazing deal on one of the Amazon Echo‘s closest rivals. (Hey, we like to keep things spicy around here.)

Meet the Google Nest Audio, a well-rounded smart speaker introduced last fall as the long-awaited heir to the throne of 2016’s original Google Home. Normally $99.99 — the same price as the Echo — Walmart just slashed its price by a whole 25% to bring it down to only $74.98.

By our calculations, that’s its biggest discount ever.

All shades of the Google Nest Audio except for Sand (second from left) are up for grabs at Walmart — choose from Sage, Sky, Chalk, or Charcoal.

The Google Assistant’s glow-up from the Home model to the Nest Audio brought with it a bunch of much-needed sound upgrades, including a 19mm tweeter with a 75mm mid-woofer for deeper bass and fuller audio, plus two built-in features (Ambient IQ and Media EQ) that optimize its output based on the surrounding environment. Google further elevated it with a more modern, buttonless design, which comes in your pick of four shades: the green Sage, the light blue Sky, a light gray Chalk, or a dark gray Charcoal. (A fifth color — a peachy “Sand” — was sold out at Walmart the last time we checked, FYI.)

So, how does it stack up against the aforementioned Echo and Apple’s HomePod mini, another $99 smart speaker? Mashable tech reporter Brenda Stolyar actually pitted the three against each other in a series of tests last fall and wound up handing the crown to the Nest Audio: “It looks sleek, sounds good, and is easy to use and control,” she wrote. “Plus, it’s compatible with tons of smart home accessories.” We’re sold. (You can read Stolyar’s in-depth review of the Nest Audio here.)
