Even if you’re taking care of your physical health during this pandemic, it’s also important to take care of your mental health, too. That’s why Headspace announced that its subscription will be free for a year for all unemployed Americans.

Starting Thursday, anyone who lost their job during the COVID-19 outbreak can register for a free subscription with the guided meditation app.

“As unemployment numbers continue to skyrocket, people around the country are facing not only a financial hardship due to job loss, but also an extraordinary mental health burden,” Headspace stated in a press release. About a third of Americans have experienced “high levels of psychological distress” due to coronavirus social distancing, according to a Pew Research Center survey of 9,545 Americans conducted in March and April.

Starting Monday, Headspace will also offer a new collection of guided meditations for “Living through unemployment.” Practices include sessions like “Adapting to sudden change,” “Sadness and loss,” “Recovering confidence,” and “Finding Purpose.”

Headspace is also free for healthcare providers in the United States, the United Kingdom, and France, as well as teachers in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and the UK. It’s also free for residents of a number of cities and states throughout the United States.

Washing your hands and wearing a face covering is necessary to stop the spread of the coronavirus. Keeping your mental health in check is necessary to get through it.
