It’s not entirely clear who was clamoring for more movies in the G.I. Joe franchise, but if it gives us Henry Golding looking intense while wielding a katana in the rain, it’s hard to get mad about it.

Snake Eyes is the origin story for the super-mysterious eponymous commando and martial arts master of the G.I. Joe team. Golding (Crazy Rich Asians, A Simple Favor) replaces Ray “Darth Maul” Park, who played the (silent) role in the previous G.I. Joe films.

While this minute-long trailer — more of a teaser, really — doesn’t give us much new information about the character, it does give us Golding fighting with a sword on top of a car, fighting with a gun from inside a car, looking concerned while serious men explain things ominously, and contemplating Snake Eyes’ trademark visor. He also says some words with his actual mouth at one point, which is definitely something new for the famously mute fellow.

We also get brief looks at some of the other characters, including Scarlett (Ready Or Not‘s Samara Weaving), the Baroness (Úrsula Corberó), and Storm Shadow (Andrew Koji).

Snake Eyes is out on July 23, in actual theaters.
