In case you were wondering, the answer is yes: Bernie Sanders has seen your many Inauguration Day memes.

During his appearance on Late Night on Thursday, the memes — which stemmed from a photo of the senator sitting huddled in a pair of chunky brown mittens, and progressed to inevitable photoshops of him spliced into everything from paintings to album covers — were pretty much the first thing that host Seth Meyers asked about.

Sanders’ response? “I was just sitting there trying to keep warm.”

Perfect. He also chuckled when Meyers showed an example of him photoshopped next to the characters from Sex and the City, and explained that the woman who made the mittens — 42-year-old schoolteacher Jen Ellis from Vermont — has been inundated with interest in her creation.

The bad news? They’re sadly not for sale.

Oh, and before you ask, Bernie isn’t going to tell you what was in his orange folder on Wednesday, either. Apparently it’s “top secret.”
