How did the woman cross the street?

No, this isn’t a joke. It’s 2020. We don’t joke anymore! This is a genuine question sparked by footage making the rounds online that shows several people struggling to walk through Ukraine’s ice-covered capital.

In the distressing yet hilarious clip, which was shared on Twitter by CBS News, nearly everyone who’s seen in this security footage has a hard time keeping their balance while navigating the slick streets and sidewalks. But one woman in particular — one poor, resilient woman — clearly has the most challenging struggle of them all.

The woman (who’s wearing a hat, gloves, and a backpack) first steps into view around seven seconds. When approaching the sidewalk she falls, gets back up, and tries again. She repeats this cycle three more times before a stranger attempts to help her find her balance. After those efforts prove unsuccessful, the stranger then abandons (!!!) her (What the heck, dude??) and she continues to slip, slide, and crash to the ground by herself for what feels like an eternity.

After realizing her current tactic isn’t working, the woman tries to crawl her way across the sidewalk-turned-ice rink. While the crawling proves to be the most effective method yet, it also epically fails and sends the ice warrior back to where she started her hellish journey. She pauses for a second. You can see she’s carefully plotting her next move. She decides to take a detour and leaves the sidewalk behind her to test out the street, but my god, the woman just can’t stop falling.

She falls on her knees, her hands, her behind! This poor woman, who is hopefully safe in a warm bed somewhere, must still be feeling this journey throughout every inch of her body.

At the 57-second mark, the woman falls out of frame and the video unfortunately cuts off — leaving us on one of the most dramatic cinematic cliffhangers in history.

How did the woman cross the street? I’ve gotta know!

Did anyone help her? Did she decide to take a longer, less icy route to reach her destination? Did she call a car? Someone tell me! And also what kind of god-awful, zero-traction shoes was she wearing? We need to know so we can take proper precautions and ideally never find ourselves in a similar situation.

Unfortunately, if we look at these icy Ukraine streets as the year 2020, then we are all this woman. So I guess it’s too late. We feel you, girl. We really do.
