SAVE UP TO $60: As of Dec. 21, Walmart and Amazon have select variants of the all-new Apple Watch Series 6 on sale for as low as $339.
Still on sale for a mere $169 at select retailers, 2017’s Apple Watch Series 3 remains the best value you can get in a Tim Cook-made smartwatch — no contest. That said, there’s no shame in upgrading if you’re after the newer Apple Watches’ slick features (see: bigger, always-on displays and ECG sensors) or if you’re worried that Apple will soon phase out support for future versions of watchOS. (At almost three-and-a-half years old, the Series 3 is considered ancient in the tech world.)
Coincidentally, now is an amazing time to buy this fall’s all-new Apple Watch Series 6: As of Dec. 21, select sizes, colors, and configurations are on sale for as low as $339 at Walmart and Amazon — that’s $10 away from its all-time-low Black Friday pricing. (Better yet, the latter retailer is still promising to deliver select variants before Christmas so long as you place your order within the next day or so.)

Announced in mid-September alongside two new iPads, the Series 6 introduced a newer, faster processor and an SpO2 sensor that can read one’s blood oxygen levels. (This isn’t super useful unless you suffer from a serious health condition, as Mashable’s Brenda Stolyar pointed out in her review, but we’re hoping Apple will expand on this technology down the road.) It also ships with watchOS 7, which brings features like sleep tracking, hand-washing detection, and workout warm-up/cooldown tracking to the table.
The Series 6 is otherwise very similar to last year’s Series 5, carrying over specs like the always-on display, an ECG sensor, fall detection, high/low heart-rate notifications, and Emergency SOS. (We’d normally recommend the Series 5 over the Series 6, but this sale pricing makes it cheaper than its predecessor for the time being.)
