007 First Light has now been fully revealed, with a trailer that shows off gameplay as well as some of the cast. From the looks of things, this will be a third-person action game that blends gadgets, gunplay, and vehicular carnage with an original story based on the novels of Ian Fleming.

After being teased for years, 007 First Light was finally revealed at a Sony State of Play event. We got to see young Bond in action, as well as iconic characters like M, Q, and Moneypenny. At present, the actor behind Bond hasn’t been officially confirmed, with The Walking Dead’s Lennie James being the only confirmed cast member so far. Regardless, it looks like the team at IO is set on crafting an original Bond story, with the globe-trotting agent portrayed as a loose canon in his mid twenties.

Here’s everything we know about 007: First Light so far, including a look at gameplay, and some key details on platforms and a release year. As we receive news on the upcoming game, this page will be updated.

007 First Light follows a 26 year old James Bond as he goes from training as a Navy air crewman, to MI6. He’s tasked with tracking down 009, who has gone rogue. We follow Bond in his first missions, as he undergoes training as an agent, under the supervision of his mentor Greenway.

That’s all we know about the story so far, though we do know that the story will take us from snowy mountains to sun-drenched beaches. A true globetrotting adventure awaits!

We’ve seen a few snippets of 007: First Light gameplay as part of the reveal trailer. It looks like the game will be an action stealth title, with more of an emphasis on action than the Hitman series. There’s plenty of gadgets though, including distraction tools, a laser watch, and more, so things should be feeling very classic Bond indeed.

After a brief look at a rocket powered dirt bike, we’re introduced to James Bond’s car, which looks to be a classic Aston Martin. There’s other vehicles too, including a huge truck at one point, so there’s sure to be a lot of driving missions involved. Third person shooting makes up the rest of what we’ve seen, with Bond firing pistols quickly while on the run through collapsing levels.

007 First Light trailers

The first proper trailer for 007: First Light was unveiled on June 4, 2025. It’s three minutes long, introducing a young Bond as he goes from the Navy to MI6. He’s shown to be a bit of a hothead, though a capable one at that. We know that he’ll be off to track down a rogue agent, and that he’ll have plenty of gadgets at his disposal.
