Ok, now that we have cleared the hurdle of Mr. Whitbrook’s tiresome grousing about all things Doctor Who – we can now get to the real exploration takes place in the comments.
This was a great episode – tells a great story, uses the angels in very effective ways, puts the Doctor and companions into a terrible situation, and moves the story along.
I like the evolution of the angels from simple one trick monsters into something that reaches for a bigger mythology. Like ‘Genesis of the Daleks’, sometimes retconning can really enhance a monster in Doctor Who. I’m not sure if the angels are getting that good of a back story, but this makes me wonder about them in ways I simply have not in, well, forever.
Jodie was great in this episode and Kevin McNally gave us a character I want to see again. Frankly, the whole cast put in great work.
The cliffhanger was a stunner. The camera work and production was top notch.
Had to be one of the best in some time.
