Cobra Kai season 6 part 2 release date

As mentioned, Cobra Kai season 6 doesn’t have just one or two launch dates. Indeed, the series is releasing in three volumes starting with part 1, which is out now in full, and ending with part 3, on an undisclosed date in 2025.

We knew that Cobra Kai‘s farewell season would arrive in some capacity this year, with Netflix revealing Cobra Kai would return in 2024 via a new release schedule update. The show’s return was then confirmed in an X/Twitter post on May 2, and season 6 part 1 is out now.

And part 2 is set to arrive on November 15, thanks to a post on X/Twitter (see above) confirming it. That’s nearly two weeks earlier than originally planned. For the final entry, part 3 is expected to be released some time in 2025.

Cobra Kai’s sixth season will be a mega 15 episode epic, meaning we’ll be treated to five more episodes than the standard 10 that previous seasons have had. Start practising your crane kicks accordingly, everyone.

Watch On

The first official trailer for Cobra Kai season 6 part 1 was released on July 1 as Netflix teases Cobra Kai season 6’s final showdown. The trailer reveals that the next instalment will pick up where season 5 left off – with the Cobra Kai dojo eliminated from the Valley. With the Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang rivalry settled though, there’s a lot of senseis and students left adapting to a new way, and location, of training for the Sekai Taikai championships.

The return of John Kreese is also teased after he faked his own death, escaped from prison, and is now, seemingly, plotting his revenge. Plus, there’s a buried box full of Miyagi secrets uncovered by Daniel, Chozen, and Amanda that leads Chozen to say: “if we open, anything is possible.”

When it comes to a Cobra Kai season 6 part 2 trailer, we’re unsure when it will arrive, but we’ll update this guide when one is released.

While Paul Walter Hauser made a surprise return as Stingray in part 1’s premiere episode, it’s unclear whether he’ll return again in part 2.

Spoilers follow for season 6 part 1. A character that won’t be returning for season 6 part 2 is Tory’s mum, Grace (Bethany DeZelle). As was seen in part 1’s final episode, Grace passed away suddenly from a pulmonary embolism and her death, which we’ll talk more about in the plot below, threw Tory’s role in the Miyagi-Do into turmoil.

Major spoilers follow for Cobra Kai up to and including season 6 part 1.

We know that Cobra Kai season 6 in its entirety follows Netflix’s brief plot synopsis: “Picking up with Cobra Kai eliminated from the Valley, our senseis and students must decide if and how they will compete in the Sekai Taikai – the world championships of karate.”

Suitably, season 6 part 1 picked up where season 5 ended, with Terry Silver finally going to jail for his crimes and John Kreese emerging as a new villain for season 6, faking his own death and escaping from prison. One out, one in.

So, how has season 6 part 1 paved the way for what’s to come? To start, training for the upcoming Sekai Taikai is very much the main focus. Daniel, Johnny, and Chozen are united in the Miyagi-Do as training up the Valley’s karate teens gets underway. While Johnny and Daniel still continue to sort their differences when it comes to their teaching styles, Johnny receives a mystery message to meet someone out in the woods.

Fortunately, it’s not yet the return of John Kreese, but instead Stingray, who proposes Johnny works alongside him with a whole new crop of Karate competitors. An offer Johnny turns down, yet season 6 part 1 continues to explore the ongoing conflict between Daniel and Johnny.

In preparation for the Sekai Taikai, it’s revealed that only six students are allowed in the team competition, and only two can take on the individual competition – one boy and one girl. Miyagi-Do make the difficult decision to send Miguel, Sam, Robby, Tory, Demetri, and Devon to Spain for the competition. Surprising, leaving out former All Valley winner, Hawk.

A lot of fighting ensues, in true Cobra Kai fashion, to determine who will captain the male and female teams and who will compete in the individual segment. Robby and Tory are victorious, but that’s not the end of the story as we’ll delve into more below. Daniel and Johnny continue to argue, even resulting in a punch to the face for Johnny, during the captain decision competition.

During part 1, Daniel begins to learn about Miyagi in a whole new way after discovering a secret box under some floorboards that point to a dark past and reveal a passport with Miyagi’s photo, under a different name. He also learns that Miyagi himself competed in the Sekai Taikai. So, there’s plenty more to uncover as Cobra Kai continues in season 6 part 2.

Finally, the biggest plot twist of season 6 part 1 is Tory’s defection to Cobra Kai. After being approached by Kreese earlier in part 1, Tory refuses his offer to come and fight for his team. But, circumstances change when she loses her mother to a pulmonary embolism throwing her whole world into turmoil. Unfortunately, she brings this anger into the captain competition and, while her anger is winning the fight against Sam, the battle is called off when they learn of her loss. Daniel stops the fight for respect, but in her continued fury, Tory spectacularly quits Miyagi-Do. In the final moments of season 6 part 1, Tory arrives at the Sekai Maikai, but not to make amends and fight for Miyagi-Do, but to represent Kreese as part of team Cobra Kai.

When it comes to season 6 part 2 then, Tory’s participation in the opposing team is sure to ruffle feathers and create a divide between the Karate prodigies. It may also cause an even deeper conflict between Johnny and Daniel given Johnny’s support for the fight to continue between Tory and Sam, and Daniel calling a stop to it.

In an interview with TODAY.com, Peyton List aka Tory says on season 6’s plot, “For some reason he (Kreese) sees something in Tory, and she feels like it’s her only option, even though it’s not, but in that moment, she can’t see clearly.” Whether Tory sees clearly in season 6 part 2, we’ll have to wait and see. What we do know is that part 1 has set up a Kreese versus Miyagi-Do confrontation nicely at the Sekai Taikai.

As for what else lies in store, William Zabka, who plays Johnny, said (via X/Twitter): “It’s been an awesome long journey but it’s not over yet. Season six could be the biggest, the badass-est most amazing season of Cobra Kai yet”. Big claims, indeed.

Meanwhile, we know that Johnny’s wife Carmen is pregnant with their much longed-for baby, so the drama could also pick up on that.

Alicia Hannah-Kim, who plays Kim Da-Eun, also teased that her character is far from done, and thinks there’s more mileage for the female sensei. Before her return was announced, she told Deadline: “Hopefully, we will continue what we’ve started in season 5 on Cobra Kai… I think they’ve opened a Pandora’s box with Kim Da-Eun and Master Kim Sun-Young. It really brought a darker element to this season and I’m curious what could happen now that Cobra Kai is ostensibly defeated. I do know Kim is hellbent on global domination for her family’s legacy so there’s a lot yet to explore.”

Co-creator, Jon Hurwitz, in conversation with Netflix Tudum says: “The middle five [episodes], you get to see martial arts at a level higher than you’ve ever seen before. You get to meet new, exciting characters and take all of our combustible characters, and you get to see karate outside of the Valley. How are they going to handle the pressure? How are they going to handle being in the most intense karate fight of their lives while it’s not harmonious between them?”

Will Cobra Kai season 6 bring the hit show to an end?

Yep. When Cobra Kai season 6 was announced, it was sadly revealed that it would be the show’s final outing.

However, it’s not totally out for the count. In a statement (via X/Twitter) confirming that the main series would end with season 6, its creators hinted at potential spin-offs in the future, writing: “This fandom is the best on the planet and we hope to be telling more Karate Kid stories with you down the line. Because as we all know, Cobra Kai Never Dies.” So, stay tuned for possible spin-offs to come, gang!
