SAVE $5: Normally $24.99, Hades is on sale for just $19.99 as part of Nintendo’s Indie World Holiday Sale that goes through 8:59 a.m. PST on Jan. 2, 2021.

Between two new consoles, several major remakes and remasters, and blockbuster titles like The Last of Us Part II and Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it goes without saying that 2020 was a big year for big gaming releases. But you’d be doing yourself a massive disservice if you slept on all of the indie gems 2020 brought us, too.

If you managed to track down a Nintendo Switch or Switch Lite this holiday season, you’re in luck: You’ve got one last chance to grab a bunch of indie games on sale before 2021 gets rolling, as Nintendo’s Indie World Holiday Sale runs now through 8:59 a.m. PST on Jan. 2.

Its biggest pull? A little rogue-like dungeon-crawler called Hades by the San Francisco-based devs of Supergiant Games, which is back on sale at its Black Friday pricing of $19.99 (normally $24.99).

Released in September after chilling in early access purgatory since 2018, Hades just so happens to be Mashable’s 2020 Game of the Year, having been deemed “excellently incarnate” by entertainment reporter Kellen Beck. (It managed to walk away with The Game Awards‘ Best Indie and Best Action prizes earlier this month, too, so yeah — it’s kind of a big deal.) You’ll play as Zagreus, the son of Hades, as you attempt to fight your way out of the underworld through rooms of mythical enemies. Each death will force you to restart from the very beginning, and because every level is randomized, you’ll never have the same run twice — a journey that’s both “challenging” and “intoxicating,” writes Beck.

(Note that the game is still full price at Best Buy, GameStop, and Target — you have to buy it directly from Nintendo to score these savings.)
