Save up to 27%: The BodyBoss 2.0 full portable home gym is on sale for $129.99 in almost every color, saving you nearly $50 as of Jan. 20.

Perfecting the at-home gym has been an ongoing project for many of us since the pandemic began.  Some local gyms are still closed, others are open with restrictions — but working out in a mask near other sweaty people in masks isn’t everyone’s ideal zen atmosphere. Actually, some of us don’t like working out in front of people even when there’s not a pandemic.

The departure of a year that made it particularly easy to be lazy brings extra motivation to get fit on top of typical New Year’s resolutions. The BodyBoss 2.0 is a portable home gym (OK, resistance bands and a collapsible bar) that can seamlessly be incorporated into the smallest apartments — and the budgets that quickly ruled out The Mirror. Typically $179, you can perform over 300 different workouts in your living room for $129.99. (Some colors are seeing a hike on the original price, making the discount look larger. Regardless, $129.99 is the uniform sale price.)

The complete resistant training system is made up of just a few pieces: a vectrofit base, a collapsible workout bar, resistance bands, handles, limb straps, and door anchor. The way that such a streamlined package can simulate workouts typically only done on giant machines at the gym was a major factor in its successful Kicktstarter and Indiegogo campaigns.

Here’s how it works: Each resistance band provides roughly 30 pounds of resistance at its normal length. Adding extra bands to your handles is like adding extra dumbbells, simulating anything from a squat rack to a lateral raise machine. The platform’s 10 anchor points can be used to customize your workout, shortening bands to add weight or lengthening them to lessen the load.

When you’re done, the whole ensemble can be folded up and slid under the bed.
