At the intersection of von Trapp and viral video, meet the truly talented Marsh family.
You may recognize the UK-based family of six from their YouTube channel, which helped them go semi-viral last March with a pandemic-themed cover of “One Day More” from Les Misérables. Now, they’re back with an exquisite parody of “Total Eclipse of the Heart” — fittingly retitled “Totally Fixed Where We Are” — which has over 1.2 millions views at the time of this writing.
“Thiiird lock down,” goes the refrain, as each family member pipes up with their unique perspective on the difficulties of co-existing in the COVID-19 era. From spats about untidy rooms to quips about the “always on” Xbox One, every Marsh describes feeling the strain but the love is overwhelmingly apparent. (Catch the two Marsh sisters joshing around at the very beginning. It’s super cute.)
Spectacularly written and performed — every single one of these kids can really, really sing — it’s exactly the sort of wholesome content we need as we trudge on through this mess.
“Thanks for your lovely comments, and we’re glad that we seem to be bringing a smile to quite a few people who need it,” the Marsh family YouTube channel description reads. “Wishing you all a safe path through the pandemic, and speedy recoveries on the other side.”
