What have you been watching during the pandemic? Other than reruns of The Office, of course.

This pitch-perfect Saturday Night Live music video taps into our endless fascination with different flavors true crime while we’ve all been locked up with nothing to do during a pandemic. It’s all about murder shows (like Netflix’s Crime Scene: Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel), but then Nick Jonas arrives to remind us about cult shows (remember when we all went bananas for HBO’s The Vow?).

The sketch doesn’t interrogate any deeper meanings, like what it says about us that we’re diving deep into sociopath-filled docu-crap while paying our taxes or folding our laundry. It’s content to just implicitly remind us all that our brains are currently de-socialized tubs of porridge, and that we’re just trying to make sense of the world through the lens of society’s most troubled individuals.

Then, Melissa Villaseñor comes in at the end with a clutch reminder that baking shows are also great. Murder, brainwashing, and food prep — the holy trinity of the COVID-19 pandemic?
