Apple’s iPhones have become more generous when it comes to storage in the past few iterations, but they still lag behind top Android phones, many of whom offer 1TB as their top storage tier.
According to a report by Wedbush analysts (via 9to5Mac), based on information from Apple’s supply chain, the next iPhone (likely called the iPhone 13) will come with a 1TB storage option. That’s double the current max capacity of the iPhone 12 Pro, which comes in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB capacities.
The only iOS device that currently comes with 1TB of storage is the iPad Pro.
The 1TB capacity certainly won’t be for everyone — for example, I’m currently using a mere 34GB out of my iPhone 12 Pro’s 512GB capacity — but videographers who work with high-res videos will surely be happy to see this option.
The iPhone 13, likely scheduled to launch this fall, is slowly being fleshed out through rumors and reports. Notable new features that might be coming include an always-on display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a stronger MagSafe magnetic connector, and new astrophotography features.
An earlier report said the iPhone 13 will likely be similar in design to its predecessors, but will come with a better ultra-wide camera.
