Sony is launching a new Xperia smartphone on April 14.
The announcement, spotted by Droid Life, appears to have been made only through a banner on Sony Xperia’s YouTube channel, which sounds like either Sony did this in error, or the company’s not particularly interested in hyping up the upcoming device(s).
In any case, there’s no details on what, exactly, is coming on April 14, but we can make a guess. Rumors say the company is working on a new flagship called the Xperia 1 III, with formidable specs that include a 6.5-inch, 4K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with fast, 65W charging.
Sony has lately been putting the focus on the camera capabilities of its phone, and the Xperia 1 III will reportedly be no different, with a quad main camera, possibly with periscope zoom capabilities.
As for the design, we can probably expect a typical Sony longphone, with a 21:9 display, just like the one on last year’s Xperia 1 II.
Leakers also say Sony might launch two more smartphones on April 14, including the Xperia 10 III and the Xperia 5 III.
We’ll find out more at the event, which kicks off on April 14 at 4:30 p.m. JST (3:30 a.m. ET), and will likely be broadcasted online via Sony Xperia’s YouTube channel.
