Or rather her voice, Kristen Bell, talking to Jimmy Fallon about the much-anticipated return of the series. In the clip above, the actor appears on The Tonight Show to quickly chat about what to expect from the revival of Gossip Girl and the fun of featuring in voiceover form (skip to about halfway through the clip to get to this bit).
“I like the challenge of having to evoke emotion from the audience by using only one tool. The tone, the pitch, cadence of my voice, It’s really fun,” says Bell. “Gossip Girl, the new show is really cool because it talks all about how social media has changed us, and it’s more risqué because it’s on HBO Max, and there’s a twist at the end of episode one that’s really different.”
Bell also chatted about the fact that voiceover work was her best gig during the pandemic, so much so that she’s launching a new podcast called Shattered Glass in which she talks to women who have taken on male-dominated industries and smashed it — you know Oprah is a guest.
Gossip Girl lands on HBO Max on July 8, and the trailer launched today.
