Update: New Amazon PS5 restock details have emerged today, and TechRadar was the first site to get the tip. Here’s how and when to get the console in your hands on Thursday.

The overdue Amazon PS5 restock is scheduled for Thursday, March 18, according to information sent to TechRadar today, and we’ve even seen what time the hard-to-find Sony console will be back in stock. We’ll explain exactly when soon.

Amazon will restock 46,000 PS5 consoles on Thursday and we know that thanks to information first seen by TechRadar and YouTuber Jake Randall, who specializes in PS5 and Xbox Series X restock videos.

Sadly, we don’t know the breakdown between PS5 Disc and PS5 Digital inventory, and we don’t have any information when a new Xbox restock will happen.

It’ll look like:

Amazon PS5 restock of 46,000 consoles

So is 46,000 a lot of consoles? To put it this way, the last time Amazon had a restock, on March 3, the same tipster mentioned the retailer had 38,000 PS5 consoles, and hundreds of people feed back into our PS5 Twitter tracker that they got it. So 46,000 is a massive number.

The Amazon PS5 restock on March 18 isn’t the first time we’ve had exclusive details, based on insider tips, about new console inventory launching. When the Target and Best Buy PS5 restocks happened over the last two weeks, our sources – of which there were multiple including warehouse workers and top brass – got it right.

So what time is the Amazon PS5 restock? We’ve seen the time, but we’re choosing to withhold that information at the moment due to the fact that bots will swoop in and pick up the inventory. We’ll live tweet when the Amazon PS5 restock will happen.

Why sign up for PS5 restock alerts? On average, we’re seeing PS5 restock sell out in three minutes or less. Some retailers release it in waves to extend the time to buy to 30 or 45 minutes, but when a PS5 restock happens without retailer intervention, you have just three minutes to buy the console. Seconds count.

PS5 restock retailers this week

The Amazon PS5 restock is scheduled to happen this week – we actually knew that last week after we broke the Best Buy exclusive news. Now we have confirmed it’ll be on Thursday, March 18 at the following two links.

$499 PS5 Disc version at Amazon – in stock later this week
$399 PS5 Digital Edition at Amazon – in stock later this week

Amazon doesn’t sell the Sony PS5 console as a bundle with games or accessories, so this is a good chance to get the system by itself. That good and bad news, though. Bundles from GameStop, for example, tend to be in stock longer, as scalpers have a harder time reselling them at a profit.

Amazon is also the hardest retailer to buy from because everyone has their details set up in advance. No one is fumbling to add their credit card information or their home address to buy the PS5 simply because Amazon makes things so easy.

Important: Don’t buy PS5 off of Twitter or other online sources that don’t have fraud protection. The reliable dozen US stores above have had PS5 stock in the past.

TechRadar has exclusively reported on multiple PS5 drops in the last two weeks, and next we have information that says Amazon has inventory for next week. We’ll circle back with the Amazon PS5 restock time and date as soon as it’s confirmed.

With the help of warehouse sources, we’ve gotten other PS5 inventory projections correct, including quantity, the time, and date of shipments.

Here’s why the PS5 restock date and time is never set in stone at brick-and-mortar retail stores until the last day or two – and this may apply to Amazon, too: every warehouse that is due consoles needs to get them in first – and there needs to be enough of them distributed around the country. It’s an inventory and logistic necessity, we’re told.

Also, Amazon, like Best Buy, may not sell through its full inventory to consumers. Some consoles may be held in case someone comes back with a console that’s defective. We’re told that’s rare, but it does happen, so there needs to be enough stock to remedy those issues in each store.

Amazon PS5 restock tips

Ordering PS5 at Amazon is difficult simply because everyone has their credit card information and address plugged into their account. Simply put, there’s no time to waste given one-click ordering offered Amazon over other retailers in the US.

That’s different from Best Buy, which has you wait on a page until you can actually place the order and re-hit the ‘Add to cart’ button. It’s all in an effort to beat the bots employed by PS5 scalpers.
