Apple hardware is expensive, which is we try to highlight whenever there’s any kind of a discount. Well, if you’re in the market for a new laptop, you’ll be happy to hear that Apple’s latest high-end MacBooks (8/10, WIRED Recommends) are at their lowest price ever on Amazon. That’s the powerful 2021 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros with M1 Pro Chips, 16 gigabytes of RAM, and 512 gigabytes of storage.
They’re still not cheap, but these are killer prices for some very capable machines. The 16-incher has dipped this low only once before last month, but this is the lowest ever for the 14-inch machine. It’s a great time to buy them too, as Apple just introduced these last fall and likely won’t be introducing high-end MacBook Pro models this year.

Why We Love the New MacBook Pros
Most people don’t need these top-end MacBooks. The performance they deliver is overkill for general tasks like web browsing and word processing—if that’s you, stick with the MacBook Air. (We have a guide to help you choose the best MacBook for your needs.) But if you need a powerful laptop that can handle video editing, music production, 3D rendering, or any other demanding task, these will serve you well. High Power Mode on the 16-inch allows you to edit 8K footage too.
Remember ports? When you could plug things directly into your MacBook without a dongle? Apple bafflingly got rid of most of them in 2016. In 2021, it finally listened and put them back into these two laptops. You’ll get spots to hold an HDMI, three USB-Cs with Thunderbolt 4, an SD card, and a headphone jack. The chargers have returned to their roots too, connecting magnetically again.
Apple also ditched the Touch Bar (hooray!) and introduced Mini LED screens on both sizes, which deliver rich color and stunningly deep blacks. Oh, and they support 120-Hz refresh rates, too. Read our review for more details.
