Several new Apple Macs are on sale on Amazon as of Dec. 29:
If you’re fortunate enough to still be working from home as we round the corner into 2021, it’s probably time to start thinking about upgrading your laptop-on-the-couch situation to a more permanent desktop setup. (Bonus points if you can expense it to your employer.)
Conveniently, Amazon just put a couple of Apple’s latest Macs on sale for all you remote workers out there — that includes both sizes of the new iMac from August as well as November’s new Mac mini, which comes equipped with the company’s snazzy, custom-made M1 chip. Here’s the scoop on each model:
Tim Cook’s latest all-in-one desktop features a beautiful 21.5-inch 4096 x 2304 Retina 4K display, which gets you a billion colors and 500 nits of brightness, in addition to high-performance AMD Radeon Pro 500X series graphics and a bunch of ports for multitasking. (That includes two Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports, four USB-A ports, and a Gigabit Ethernet port.) Each one ships with a couple hundred dollars worth of accessories to complete your setup: a Magic Keyboard, the Magic Mouse 2, a power cord, and a Lightning to USB cable.
Amazon has two different configurations of this machine on sale, both of which come with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage: Get the one with a 3.6GHz Intel Core i3 processor and AMD Radeon Pro 555X graphics for just $1,099.99 with an extra savings coupon (a $199.01 discount), or upgrade to the model with an 3.0GHz Intel Core i5 processor and AMD Radeon Pro 560X graphics for only $1,399 (a $100 savings). Both are enjoying their lowest prices ever, so you can’t go wrong either way.
Released last month alongside a new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air with identical M1 chips, the all-new Mac mini’s CPU supposedly offers three times faster performance and a 6x boost in graphics compared to its predecessor. Its “headless” design means you’ll pick your own keyboard, mouse, and monitor for a more customized user experience.
It’s not quite as cheap as it was over Cyber Weekend, but this is still a stellar deal: Amazon has both configurations of the Mac mini on sale for $30 off, making the 256GB one just $669.99 and the 512GB model a mere $869.
This next-level desktop computer “elevates the [iMac] experience in every way,” says Apple, bringing you a glorious, 27-inch 5120-by-2880 Retina 5K display with True Tone technology — a first for the Mac lineup — a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, Apple’s T2 Security Chip, and Bluetooth 5.0 support. As with the 21.5-inch model, it includes a whole flock of ports and accessories like Apple’s Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse 2.
The configuration Amazon’s got on sale sports a 3.1GHz 6-core 10th-generation Intel Core i5 processor, 256GB of storage space, and heavy-lifting AMD Radeon Pro 5300 graphics — you can order it today for just $1,679.92, or almost $120 off its $1,799 MSRP. (That’s about $30 away from its all-time-low price of $1,649, which it last hit just before Christmas.)
