The gist: Launched in 2011, 420 Singles boasts that it is “a place to meet single people in the cannabis community looking for love.” The social network is a very 420-friendly dating site where like-minded people can find soulmates and smoking buddies alike. The idea behind the site is for people to find someone special who won’t reject them for being a cannabis enthusiast, whether it be smoking, vaping, or eating edibles.
Unlike traditional dating sites, 420 Singles puts cannabis front and center in finding matches without any judgment or prejudice. However, the big drawback is the dating site features two separate platforms for desktop and mobile, which means you have to sign up for both with two different logins and set-up processes. It’s kind of a pain, but 420 Singles believes it just doubles your chances to find someone special to get high with.
Why it works: On the app, sign up is pretty easy with your Facebook account. Once you’ve created a profile, you can set who you’re looking for, age range, and distance up to 1,000 miles, which seems a little excessive TBH. When that’s done, you can start “liking” and “unliking” potential matches in a Tinder-like way.
Set up on the website takes a bit longer with additional questions about whether you believe in ghosts, if you’re a gamer or not, if you believe in UFOs, and if you believe in the existence of the human soul. 420 Singles knows its audience, so the questions are very eccentric. In addition, both platforms seem to be riddled with inactive profiles without photos or bios.
Navigating the app is much easier than the website, but there are additional channels like “groups” and “forums” to interact with the whole community instead of just a single user at a time. But it’s really unnecessary to have two completely different platforms with different users under the same banner and company. If 420 Singles managed to merge the two, then they might have an interesting dating site on their hands for cannabis users.
The cost: 420Singles.com is free to download for Android and iOS and also includes in-app purchases. There’s an option to upgrade to 420 Premium for $9.99 per month, which allows you to chat with users, even if you haven’t matched with them yet.
