Dyson made its first bold step into wet styling products this year, releasing the new Dyson Chitosan formulations range alongside the new Dyson Airwrap i.d..
It’s produced specifically to complement Dyson’s hair tools and shares a name with an ingredient extracted from crab shells, which can also be used as a biodegradable alternative for silicone. There’s absolutely no relation to crab shells here, though; the chitosan found in Dyson’s formula apparently comes from oyster mushrooms. Just thought it was a fun fact.
Dyson claims its Chitosan post-style serum is vegan, and that the pre-style serum isn’t, but due to the inclusion of beeswax.
Fresh deals: In both the US and UK, the Dyson V15s Detect Submarine has seen a price drop.
“Wait, Dyson sells a submarine?”
No, silly, but it does make a solid 2-in-1 wet and dry vacuum, which we scored four out of five stars in our Dyson V15s Detect Submarine review.
It’s still pricey, even at its sale price, but it’s a unique device in Dyson’s range of floor cleaners. There are far more affordable alternatives from other brands, though.
🇺🇸: was $949.99 now $749.99 at Amazon
🇬🇧: was £799.99 now £599.99 at Dyson UK

New deal: If you’re at all interested in haircare, you’ll probably be aware of the Dyson Supersonic. It was the hot hair dryer to have when it came out, and still remains super popular. You might be less aware of its successor, the Dyson Supersonic Nural, released earlier this year. It looks much like the OG model, with a similar streamlined design with neat barrel, but inside Dyson has packed in a whole bunch of ultra-cool tech.
The main one is that it can tell how close it is to your head. Activate Scalp Protect mode, and it’ll get hotter or cooler to maintain what feels like a constant temperature on your head, so you can get right up close for prevision styling, without burning your hear or frying your locks.
Each of the expanded range of tools also has a sensor inside it, so when you snap a new one on, the dryer will recognize what’s attached and revert to your last-used settings. It’s wildly expensive, sure, but it’s not that much more than the original Supersonic, and right now, Dyson is offering a little discount for Black Friday too:
🇺🇸:
Dyson Supersonic Nural: was US$499.99 now US$399.99 at Dyson Inc.
Dyson Supersonic: was US$429.99 now US$329.99 at Dyson Inc.
🇬🇧:

Dyson Supersonic Nural (Special Edition): was £399.99 now £349.99 at Dyson UK
Price drop: While it’s not by much, the Dyson V12 Detect Slim just went on sale at Dyson, beating the previous Amazon deal for $499.
Right now, you can grab the Dyson V12 Detect Slim for just $399 at Dyson – that’s a $250 discount that’s well worth considering. Meanwhile in the UK, the V12 Detect Slim is also on sale at Dyson for £399 – but John Lewis has undercut them on price by £5. Cheeky!
We scored the V12 Detect Slim four stars in our review, calling it an “underrated” sibling to the more powerful Dyson V15 detect.
🇺🇸: was $649.99 now $399 at Dyson
🇬🇧: was £849 now £394 at John Lewis
I adore Dyson’s newer Strawberry Bronze colorway, to the point where I’m tempted to buy a new, glossy Airwrap in addition to the original pink set I already own. However, I’m not made of money, and unless I win the lottery ahead of Black Friday it’s unlikely I’ll be the one to claim this next deal.
Right now, you can save $100 on the Strawberry Bronze Dyson Airwrap multi-styler and dryer for straight / wavy hair at Dyson, and it even includes a presentation case and Detangling comb. For an added benefit, how about two additional complimentary gifts at checkout? Stunning.
Dyson Airwrap: was $599.99 now $499.99 at Dyson Inc.

If you’re looking to upgrade your vacuum this Black Friday, there’s a chance you might be wondering whether to opt for a Shark model rather than a Dyson. For a long time, Dyson was considered king of the vacuum brands, but increasingly Shark is looking like hot competition.
Both brands make plenty of excellent vacuums, and consistently score highly on review. However, there are some broad differences that make one brand a better choice than the other for certain customers.
Dyson has always been all about engineering, and tends to lead the way when it comes to pushing forward efficiency, suction, and battery life. More recently, we’ve seen particularly hi-tech added features, like dust particle monitoring and reporting on the V15 and Gen5detect. Today’s best Dyson vacuums are typically meticulously designed and cutting-edge, and as a result, more expensive.
Shark’s range is wider and more varied, with models coming and going regularly. Its vacuums tend to be less meticulously engineered, but the best Shark vacuums still offer strong cleaning power. Shark has won over customers with its affordable pricing, and some simple but very effective innovations to improve usability – the forward-bending wand for cleaning under furniture is a great example. You’ll find plenty of Shark deals in our Black Friday vacuum cleaner deals guide.
Further price drops in the UK
I’ve just spotted two excellent further price drops, bringing two great older models to record low prices.
Earlier this week, the Dyson V8 Advanced was £229 at John Lewis – now, it’s £199, down from its list price of £329. While it’s an older model, the ‘Advanced’ in its name indicates Dyson has recently updated its specs versus the original Dyson V8. Now, it has slightly improved suction, but broadly speaking it’s pretty the same as the model we gave four stars in our Dyson V8 review.
Elsewhere, Dyson’s own Black Friday sale has seen a further price drop on the Dyson Cyclone V10 Total Clean, dropping the price from its earlier sales price of £299 (price matched by Argos, John Lewis and Currys) to a record-low of £279 at Dyson.co.uk, down from its list price of £449. It’s ultra versatile thanks to the huge range of tools and accessories that come included as part of the ‘Total Clean’ package. In our four-star Dyson Cyclone V10 review we liked how powerful this vacuum is and praised its great design, but we weren’t a fan of its list price; with this deal, however, it’s well worth it.
Dyson V8 Advanced: was £329.99 now £199.99 at John Lewis
Dyson Cyclone V10 Total Clean: was £449.99 now £279.99 at dyson.co.uk
US deal: If you want a two-in-one solution, the Dyson AM09 Hot + Cool heater is an excellent option, utilizing Dyson’s smart bladeless air multiplier technology to ditch the old-school fan form factor.
It comes with a remote, allowing for easy control even as you lounge on your sofa, reveling in your gloriously smart new fan, and offers ten distinct airflow levels, oscillation options, a sleep timer (in increments up to 9 hours) and precise temperature controls, also illustrated by the base unit’s LED display.

Good morning deal hunters! Another day, another batch of exciting new deals.
Once again we’ll be updating our deals list this morning and spotlighting a few exciting ones in the coming hours. For now, check out our picks of the best Dyson vacuums and the best Dyson Airwrap dupes.
Launched in 2021, the V15 Detect might not be the newest vacuum in Dyson’s line-up, but it’s one of the smartest and most powerful.
With its release, Dyson debuted its laser light, which reveals invisible dust on hard floors when using the Fluffy Optic tool. Plus, its one-inch circular digital screen can show you exactly how much dust you’re collecting, thanks to the tiny piezo sensor housed within the vacuum’s handheld unit, which can measure acoustic vibrations from microscopic particles as small as 10 microns. So, when the display shows nothing more is being collected, you’ll know your floor is well and truly clean.
Is it overkill? Considering the price, even with this $/£150 discount, potentially so. However, you’ll make all your friends jealous with your super-smart sucker.

🇬🇧 Dyson V15 Detect Absolute Cordless Vacuum: was £649.90 now £499.99 at John Lewis

We’ve given our deals list above a price check this morning, and spotted a further price drop on the Dyson Gen5Detect in both the UK and US! Score!
In the UK, it’s a record-low, where in the US it’s $50 more than the best price we’ve seen so far.
🇬🇧: was £849 now £570 at John Lewis
🇺🇸: was $949.99 now $699 at Amazon
UK deals: With UK Dyson deals still fairly sparse on Amazon (come on guys, where are the deals at?), we’ve done a good trawl through some of the other major retailers running Black Friday sales events, spotting this excellent deal for £150 off the Dyson Cyclone V10.
Like many of the Dyson vacuums presently on sale for Black Friday, the Cyclone V10 is a bit of an older model, coming with a more basic feature set when compared to later models like the V12 or the Gen5detect. Offering a 60-minute run time on its lower setting, respectable performance and a handy set of tools, it’s a great all-rounder for those who want a Dyson clean without the frills.
Dyson Cyclone V10 Vacuum: was £499.99 now £299 at Currys
Good morning Dyson deal hunters! It’s Josephine back again today with fresh discounts and more buying advice to help you make some big savings this Black Friday.
We’re going to do a quick scour to find some fresh deals, but in the meantime make sure to check out our ranking of the best vacuums to see the competition.
When shopping for a Dyson vacuum cleaner, the naming system can be a little confusing. The first bit part tells you the model – so V11, V15 Detect and so on – but you’ll also find words like ‘Absolute’, ‘Complete’ or ‘Animal’ tagged onto the end. For the most part, these suffixes indicate a different range of tools (so ‘Animal’ models will have a dedicated pet hair floorhead, ‘Complete’ might have a more extended range of tools than the standard model), or even just a different colorway, while the vacuum itself is the same.
My Dyson vacuum tools guide runs through the key tools you might find included with your cleaner. when shopping, I recommend deciding which model you want, and if you have any priority tools you’d like included. Then when you’re comparing deals, just make sure the tools you definitely need are part of the package.
There are a couple of exceptions, where there are differences in the design/functionality of the vacuum. If you pick an ‘Outsize’ model, the main floorhead will be wider, and the dust cup will be larger than on the equivalent standard model. And the Dyson V11 Advanced is an updated version of the V11, with more suction power.
Homes editor Ruth dropping in for a few posts. Most of Dyson’s cordless vacuums look roughly the same, but there are differences when you start to dig a little deeper. Two popular options are the V11, which launched in 2019, and the V15 Detect, which joined the lineup in 2021.
Both have the same, efficient design, with the wand, motor and cylones all lined up to maximize suction. Both also provide information via a helpful LCD screen, and can adjust power automatically based on whether they’re on hard floor or carpet.
If you opt for the newer V15 Detect, it has a few more tricks up his sleeve. It monitors exactly the size and number of particles it’s sucking up, boosts or lowers suction to suit. It’ll also show you that information in real time on its screen. If you snap on the Fluffy head for hard floors, there’s an inbuilt laser to illuminate dust and hair that might otherwise be missed. It also offers slightly more outright power – the V15 offers suction power of 240AW, whereas the V11 tops out at 186AW – although either will be plenty powerful enough for most people’s needs.
Overall, the two vacuums are fairly similar, and most of the difference is in the added features. Where the Dyson V11 wins out is on price – it’s typically significantly cheaper that the V15, although the Black Friday Dyson sales can shake that up a bit. For a more in-depth breakdown, head to my Dyson V11 vs V15 Detect explainer.
How does the Dyson Airwrap work?
No, it’s not by magic – the Dyson Airwrap actually uses a clever phenomenon called the ‘Coanda’ effect to style your hair, specifically with its iconic barrels.
High-speed air follows the contours of the surfaces of the Airwrap attachments, much like a liquid would, and hair held close to the barrels will be naturally sucked in and wrapped around the barrel. That same air will then dry and lock-in the style (we recommend blasting your curls with the cool shot for 5-10 seconds following heat).
It’s worth noting, especially if your hair is porous like mine, that you’ll need to make sure it’s rough dried first – the airflow isn’t powerful enough to pick up heavy, wet hair.
Good morning, and welcome to the Sunday edition of TechRadar’s best Dyson Black Friday deals live blog, where we’ll be rounding up the best savings so far on Dyson vacuums, aircare, hair styling devices and alternatives for other manufacturers.
Let’s start with a little bit of advice: if you’re dropping a fair chunk of change on a costly device from a premium provider like Dyson, you’ll want to know how to properly care for it.
We’ve got a helpful guide on how to clean your Dyson cordless vacuum, so make sure to check that out before you buy – or if you’ve already ordered and you’re just that darn excited about your new gadget that you want to get ahead of the game before it arrives.
What Black Friday Dyson deals should I expect?
Black Friday Dyson deals are reliably sparse, but when they do crop up, you can often save a minimum of $100 / £100 on some of the best devices.
When it comes to vacuums, savings typically crop up on older models, especially from the popular V8 and V15 product lines, though we have seen its premium Gen5detect crop up in years previous.
Nowadays, the Dyson Airwrap will fairly reliably receive at least some kind of discount, though these can sell out very quickly, leaving behind only refurbished deals – though that’s no bad thing for the sustainability-conscious buyer. On the other hand, the now slightly aging Dyson Supersonic sees solid sales during Black Friday, with early deals already dropping the price by $120 / £120.
Elsewhere in haircare, we saw the Airstrait receive its first major discount earlier this year, slashing the price by $100 at Amazon earlier this year during Prime Day, which will hopefully see a repeat performance for Black Friday.
Last but not least is Dyson’s aircare range, which is probably its strongest suit during sales events. Every year, we see some of its popular, high-spec fans, heaters, and air purifiers significantly discounted for Black Friday, and this year should be no different, judging by the early deals.
Another brand frequently compared to Dyson, and especially during sales events, is Tineco, which offers feature-rich devices that come at lower prices.
More often, Tineco’s focus is on multi-functional, smart vacuums, whereas Dyson offers more raw power thanks to its patented cyclone technology, but there are plenty more differences to consider – read more in our comparison of Dyson vs Tineco.
While the Dyson V8 vacuum cleaner is one of Dyson’s older models, it’s still plenty powerful, and a great option if you want to save some money and don’t mind missing out on more advanced features; we still think it’s one of the best from the brand.
With a 40-minute battery life when used on its standard setting, a handy hand-held mode and a decent array of useful attachments, the V8 is a solid all-rounder made even better value for money in this year’s Black Friday deals – and in the UK, the offer is actually on a slightly newer model with improved suction.
It’s not quite a record low in the US (that was $299 in this year’s Prime Big Deals day), but in the UK it’s a price match for the lowest-ever price we saw on the 2023 edition of the Dyson V8.
🇺🇸 Dyson V8 cordless vacuum: was US$469.90 now $389 at Amazon
🇬🇧 Dyson V8 Advanced cordless vacuum: was £329.99 now £229.99 at John Lewis
Good morning, Dyson deal hunters!
There’s no doubt; Dyson’s vacuums are among the best in the game. However, in recent years Shark is coming in hot with more affordable vacuums that offer smart features and solid suction, making them a viable alternative if you’re on a budget.
Not sure if you can justify buying a Dyson vacuum this Black Friday? We’ve written a handy guide comparing the key strengths and weaknesses between models offered by Shark vs. Dyson.
UK deal: A personal recommendation here, the Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool Formaldehyde HP09 is a fantastic all-in-one purifier, heater and fan, earning it 4.5* in my review. Until recently, I lived in a flat with some pretty gnarly black mould, and this bad boy gave me more than just peace of mind.
In addition to cleaning your air and keeping it at a comfortable temperature, the near-live air quality data (shown both on its Liquid Crystal Display and companion app) is a real boon and helped me identify some potentially harmful products in my home. Plus, it integrates with a variety of smart home devices, meaning you can set up smart automations to cool, heat or purify your home – though you’ll need a separate air quality sensor for this, as unfortunately data from the device isn’t sent to your smart home hub.
Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool Formaldehyde HP09: was £700 now £550 at Argos
Are Dyson haircare devices worth it?
I’ve tested almost every device in Dyson’s haircare range, and let me tell you, they are good. However, at list price, you’re mostly paying off Dyson’s R&D department for their hard work in innovating hair care. Thankfully, many devices see at least $/£100 discounted during Black Friday.
The Dyson Supersonic hairdryer started it all, releasing as Dyson’s first hair care device in 2012, and at twelve years old it sees some of the best Black Friday discounts from Dyson’s range. It offers supremely speedy drying times, convenient magnetic attachments and sleek results. It still stands as one of the best hair dryers available, though the newer Supersonic Nural packs more smart features like Scalp Protection and the energy-saving low power mode – however, we’re unlikely to see this discounted for 2024.
In case you missed it, the Dyson Airwrap remains a hugely popular and virally successful multi-styler, with the brand releasing multiple new editions to accommodate different hair types and lengths. I use mine almost every day, and I’ve definitely noticed my hair is less damaged than when I previously used a conventional hair dryer – however, for some coarser or thicker hair types, styling doesn’t hold as long as with ceramic hair tools. At its list price, it’s a big investment, however, we’ve seen prices drop by up to $120 in the US.
Some devices such as its straighteners (the Dyson Airstrait and Dyson Coralle) are certainly innovative, but won’t be a top pick for everyone, and neither typically see huge discounts over Black Friday. They work well for some specific hair types; typically medium thickness straighter or wavy hair that isn’t too porous, but otherwise might not do the job as well as conventional ceramic plates. Still, the lofty price tag makes them inferior to market-leading, traditional straighteners like our current top recommendation, the GHD Unplugged.
The hairdryer that really kickstarted Dyson’s astronomic leap into the haircare market is still near-unmatched, offering impressively speedy drying times and a comfortable drying experience thanks to its and innovative form factor. Plus, you can also use the flyaway attachment (sold seperately) to reduce unnecessary frizz in your ‘do thanks to its coanda airflow technology.
Typically, it’s a pretty pricey device, especially given there are some decent dupes now available. However, Black Friday brings the heat, knocking £80 from its list price.
Dyson Supersonic: was £329.99 now £249.99 at John Lewis
If you want a mid-range model from Dyson’s range of powerful vacuums, consider the Dyson V11. It packs a host of helpful features; an easy-empty bin, informative LCD screen and decent battery life, though doesn’t feature some of the super-smarts seen in some newer models. It’s plenty powerful and perfect for pet owners thanks to its detangling motor bar that works well across hardwood floors and carpets. You can also transform it into a handheld vac for quick and convenient clean-ups.
We’ve yet to see the Dyson V11 drop any lower than its current price at Amazon – and the UK has the V11 Extra at a fantastically low price, too.
Dyson V11 Cordless Vacuum: was US$569.99 now $349.99 at Amazon US
Dyson V11 Extra Cordless Vacuum: was £499.99 now £349.99 at Currys UK
Dyson’s range of vacuums is extensive; as well as several versions of its cordless and upright vacuums, there are variations of each model that come with different tools and capacities.
Navigating these can be a minefield, especially in the throes of Black Friday madness, so make sure to check out our Dyson vacuum cleaner tools guide.
The Dyson Ball Animal 3 is already one of the more affordable models on offer in the brand’s wide range of vacuums, but still offers much the same high-performance as we’d expect from its more premium, cordless models.
By proxy of being corded and higher-capacity, it’s a little heavier, and in our review we did find it was slightly harder to maneuver – but it makes up for this in the power department.
Dyson Ball Animal 3: was $399.99 now $299.99 at Amazon
Is Black Friday the best time to buy Dyson products?
Generally speaking, yes. Dyson products are characterized not only by their quality, but also by the lofty price tag, and the fact there are rarely significant discounts. Luckily, you’ve got a week until the deals officially launch, so there’s time to mull over your options.
While we’ll sometimes see small price drops during other major sales, Black Friday is often the only sales event during which we’ll see discounts of any great significance. It’s worth highlighting, however, that truly great deals on certain devices like the Airwrap are especially few and far between.
Sometimes, even if a deal isn’t as good as one we’ve seen previously, it’s worth snagging an Airwrap if you’ve had it on your list for a few years.
We think the Gen5detect is one of the best vacuums available right now, impressing our reviewer with its fantastic suction and smart laser features which highlight dust that’s invisible to the eye, earning it a 5-star rating.
Dyson’s powerful Gen5detect cordless vacuum cleaner has plummeted to its record-low price in the UK, and it’s seen a decent discount in the US too:
Welcome to our Black Friday Dyson deals coverage! Today, I’ll be sharing all the best Dyson deals from across US and UK retailers as well as top tips from our home appliance experts on how to get the most bang for your buck.
Stay tuned, because the deals are heating up!
