We knew this year’s Black Friday TV deals would be good when Best Buy devoted 10 pages of its ad scan — including the entire first page — to TVs.
The battle of the cheapest TV will always be a marker of Black Friday. One of Walmart’s biggest prizes this year is a 55-inch 4K Roku TV for $148, which adds an extra five inches of screen for the same price as last year’s big 50-inch TV deal.
But mid-size TVs aren’t the only ones becoming more accessible. Perfectly in line with a prediction from Consumer Reports at the end of 2019, Black Friday 2020 brings an influx of affordable 65-inch, 75-inch, and sometimes over 80-inch TVs on sale for even less. People are growing out of their mid-sized TVs and looking to upgrade to something bigger and better. On the other end, factories have been optimized to make larger LCD sheets. When something becomes easy for the manufacturer to make, it gets cheaper. Finding a 65-inch 4K TV for less than $500 is weirdly common. This is absolutely your chance to get a TV for the garage and not feel bad about it.

Yes, you should buy a QLED TV. We’re that friend. Samsung’s early Black Friday deals are making the splurge a bit more palatable, though. LG’s NanoCell TVs have been a solid choice since their groundbreaking launch in 2017. The 81 series is the most affordable of the NanoCell family, but judging by the incredible picture clarity and serious noise reduction, you’d pin it as more expensive. Think of NanoCell technology as a slight step up from regular LCD or LED, but still more affordable than QLED. Particles are deployed in the screen structure to soak up rogue light wavelengths, boosting saturation and defining color purity.

Finding a decently-sized Sony TV around the $500 price point is clearly a glitch in the simulation, but we’ll take it. Walmart has the 55-inch version of Sony’s 750H 4K TV on sale for $519.99 — fun little side note being that the 49-inch model of the only marginally-better 800H is more expensive. The 750H shines at night, when it can show off its dark color contrasts and decipherable shadows while watching a movie or gaming in a dark room. (The same model is $30 more at Best Buy.)

At any time other than Black Friday season, you’d be hard-pressed to find a decent 55-inch TV at the $250 or $300 price point. This hidden gem from Hisense steals you an extra 10 inches and has Google Assistant built-in. FWIW, this 65-inch TV is cheaper than a 50-inch Fire TV from TCL.
