Music is Ruben’s (Riz Ahmed) entire life, which is why — after he begins to lose his hearing — it feels like everything, including his career as a drummer, is coming to an end. But after he checks into a sober house for the deaf that’s meant to help him recover from his heroin addiction and adapt to his new circumstances, he starts to question what kind of life he really wants to live.
Sound of Metal got excellent reviews from critics who praise Ahmed’s convincing performance as well as the gritty narrative. The heavy, atmospheric preview has us curious about what’s to come.
