As May draws closer, so does a host of new releases on Amazon Prime Video.

Among the new Amazon Original arrivals are two documentaries spotlighting pop stars. The Boy From Medellín focuses on J Balvin’s preparation for a concert in Medellín, Colombia, his hometown, while P!nk: All I Know So Far follows P!nk on her “Beautiful Trauma” world tour. The upcoming anthology series Solos features an all-star cast of Uzo Aduba, Nicole Beharie, Morgan Freeman, Anne Hathaway, Anthony Mackie, Helen Mirren, Dan Stevens, and Constance Wu. Rounding out Amazon Prime’s original programming for May is Panic, a young adult thriller series, and Barry Jenkins’ The Underground Railroad.

Here’s everything coming to Amazon Prime Video in May.

Top pick: The Underground Railroad

The Underground Railroad has all the potential to be Amazon Prime’s next big hit. It is an adaptation of Colson Whitehead’s alternate history novel of the same name, which won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2017. The novel tells the story of Cora Randall (Thuso Mbedu), who escapes from a plantation in the Antebellum South in search of the Underground Railroad. She finds that the Underground Railroad is an actual railway system, with trains and tunnels running beneath everyone’s feet.

Barry Jenkins (Moonlight, If Beale Street Could Talk) directed The Underground Railroad in its entirety, and if it is anything like his prior work it will feature both incredible visuals and intimate, character-driven storytelling. The Underground railroad also boasts a strong cast, with Chase W. Dillon, Aaron Pierre, and Joel Edgerton joining Mbedu in the main roles.

How to watch: The Underground Railroad begins streaming May 14 on Amazon Prime Video.
