Civilization 7 advances the historic 4X series in many ways that require a new set of tips and tricks to learn. Ages are the most prominent update, but Legacy Points go hand-in-hand with this new system and are even more complex. These new points are not only important for advancing to new Ages, but also giving you buffs and bonuses as your civ evolves. Legacy Points won’t come easily, but you can’t win the game without them. Here’s a quick and simple breakdown of how these special points work since the tutorial wasn’t all that clear about them.
How to earn Legacy Points
Legacy Points are milestones you unlock along each of the four main Legacy Paths. Legacy Paths, in short, track your (and all your opponent’s) progress toward one of the four victory conditions (Culture, Economic, Military, and Science). Each path has three milestones that reward you with a Legacy Point before resetting once you begin the next Age.
Besides adding a big chunk to your overall Age progress, each completed milestone gives you one Legacy Point. Each milestone is different for each path, and also for each Age. For example, an early Science milestone was to research writing and build a library. In this age, the first milestone is to research education and place 4 specialists. These tasks can be viewed in the Legacy Path screen as shown above, but also appear as your main objectives on the top left side of your screen.
You can make progress and earn Legacy Points in multiple paths at once, but to win the game you will eventually need to reach the end on just one path and splitting your attention between too many for too long may cause you to fall behind.
