It’s finally happened.

A little after 4 a.m. ET on Friday, and after hours of steadily closing the gap, Joe Biden pulled ahead of Donald Trump in the closely watched, key battleground state of Georgia in the presidential election, with 99 percent of votes in the state counted.

It was the middle of the night or extremely early in the morning for most of America, but unsurprisingly there were still plenty of people awake and buzzing on Twitter.

That included singer John Legend, who filmed a two-minute rendition of “Georgia on my Mind,” the 1930 Hoagy Carmichael song that’s well known for being covered by Ray Charles in the sixties, to mark the occasion. People have been sharing the song or referencing it on Twitter over the last two days as all eyes are on the vote count in the key swing state.

Suffice to say, the pitch-perfect version from the multiple Grammy-winning singer shared at the moment Biden took the lead is something to behold.

“I love you, Georgia,” he finishes in the clip.

Meanwhile, Legend’s wife Chrissy Teigen was quick to offer a little behind-the-scenes context.

Georgia’s vote count is not complete just yet. Nonetheless, this will be a moment to remember.
