Mari Copeny’s 2020 mood is super relatable.
On Monday, the 13-year-old activist know as “Little Miss Flint” tweeted to let her 128,000 followers know how she feels about this extremely scary year. To help get her point across, Copeny included a throwback photo from the day she met Donald Trump.
“Fun fact, this picture is 4 years old today and my face in it shows how I feel about this entire year,” Copeny tweeted alongside the photo. “He said he would ‘fix Flint’ in his first 100 days but only mentioned Flint for the first to attack Snyder last week.”
The photo, which you may recall was roasted online back in 2016, shows Trump smiling and holding Copeny’s arm. But the young activist looks absolutely terrified.

Copeny has been fighting the life-threatening water crisis in her hometown of Flint, Michigan, since 2014, and she continues to raise money and collect supplies for other communities in need.
In the final line of her tweet, the teen referenced Trump’s recent attack on former Michigan governor, Rick Snyder. On Wednesday, after Snyder endorsed Joe Biden for president, Trump tweeted that Snyder was responsible for Flint’s water crisis.
…I’ll take the Endorsement of Law Enforcement all over the Country, and Joe can have the RINO’S. This Snyder mess was made during the OBiden era – no wonder they’re friends!

Copeny followed up on her initial tweet by sharing another image and throwing a bit more shade at the current president. This time, she shared a photo of herself and the secret service agent who’s seen in the background of her photo with Trump.
“Two years later I was reunited with the secret service agent in the background, he works with President Obama’s detail now,” Copeny tweeted.
Though Copeny doesn’t seem to be impressed with Trump’s four years in office, it’s no secret that she’s a huge fan of Barack Obama.
When the teen was 8 years old, she wrote President Obama a powerful letter on behalf of Flint, Michigan, and explained how bad the situation was for all residents, especially children. Obama replied to Copeny, visited Flint, and ended up approving $100 million in city funding.
Copeny and Obama met in person several times, and let’s just say she looked a whole lot happier in those photos than she did in the presence of Trump.
After Copeny finished giving Trump a piece of her mind, she added a third tweet to her thread to encourage people to donate to her “Little Miss Flint Clean Water Fund” GoFundMe page, which aims to provide filters to people dealing with water crises across the country.
Since creating the GoFundMe page in Aug. 2019, Copeny has raised $332,437 of her $500,000 goal.
Copeny dreams of running for president in 2044, so here’s hoping that someday we see a new generation of young activists posing for photos with her.
