My Octopus Teacher might sound like the title of an arthouse film, but it isn’t — it’s actually a new Netflix documentary about a man who “forges an unusual relationship with an octopus” which shares with him “the mysteries of her world.”

In the footage above, over images of a man hanging out with an octopus in a kelp forest, we get an over-the-top narration explaining that the filmmaker decided to visit the same mollusc every day for a period of time in order to spark a radical change in his life.

“What she taught me was to feel that you’re part of this place, not a visitor” he says. “That’s a huge difference.” Sounds like quite the lesson.

My Octopus Teacher is available now on Netflix. Here’s a full list of everything else coming to Netflix in September.
