Welcome to TechRadar’s new Max movies article. In this guide, we’ve rounded up all of the new movies that are joining Warner Bros Discovery’s (WBD) super streaming service in December, including festive films and plenty of non-Christmassy offerings.

Max‘s film library is constantly changing, with fresh loads of great and not-so-great flicks regularly joining its back catalog. It can be hard, then, to keep track of what’s just debuted (or due to arrive) on one of the world’s best streaming services, which is where our handy guide comes into play.

Indeed, you’ll find a complete rundown of all of the new Max films in a section underneath this article’s spotlights area, which highlights five movies we think are worth streaming for good or bad seasons. If you’re after even more choice, our best Max movies piece should be your next port of call, too. For now, though, these are all of the new Max movies to keep an eye out for.

New Max movies: the best films to stream in December

The James Bond movie collection

Release date: December 1

Few non-Christmas-themed movies are viewed as much (in the UK, at the very least) as the James Bond movies, so it’s surprisingly fitting that nearly every 007 film has made its way stateside, too.

The only absentees are a select number of Sean Connery James Bond filmsDr. No, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, and Diamonds are Forever – three of Roger Moore’s 007 movies in The Man With the Golden Gun, Octopussy, and Moonraker, Timothy Dalton’s The Living Daylights, two Pierce Brosnan James Bond flicks in Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies, and all but one of Daniel Craig’s 007 movies in Skyfall.

Okay, that’s quite a sizeable chunk of the British spy’s film franchise, but there are still 14 Bond movies to enjoy in December. If you’re unsure whre you should start, read our James Bond movies in order guide.

Jurassic World

Release date: December 1

The first entry in the Jurassic Park sequel trilogy, Jurassic World is arguably the strongest installment of the franchise’s three most recent movies.

Led by a starry cast including Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Super Mario Bros. Movie) and Bryce Dallas Howard (Spider-Man 3, The Village), it tried to recapture the early sparkle of the film series’ 90s era flicks.

In some ways, Jurassic World did, with its entertaining plot and likeable characters making for a fun-filled popcorn movie. However, it still pales in comparison to the original Steven Spielberg-directed film – although, to be fair to Jurassic World, none of the 1993 movie’s follow-ups have come close. Find out where each of the six flicks placed in our Jurassic movies ranked piece while you’re here.

Mad Max: Fury Road

Release date: December 1

With prequel film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga set to race into theaters in May 2024, now is as good a time as any to stream this high-octane, explosive, and highly enjoyable George Miller-directed flick.

Mad Max: Fury Road stars Tom Hardy (Venom, Dunkirk) as the titular character in this stunning revival of the Mad Max movie series. In it, the post-apocalyptic survivor joins forces with a world-weary, revenge-filled Furiosa (Doctor Strange 2’s Charlize Theron) to keep a number of female escapees safe from the clutches of tyrannical cult leader Immortan Joe and his band of followers.

A pulsating, exhilarating, and petrol-fuelled ride that refuses to let up across its two hour and 14-minute runtime, Fury Road is cinema at its finest. Stick it on the biggest screen you can find (with the best sound system available) and enjoy it in all its lovely glory.

The Paranormal Activity movie collection

Release date: December 1

One of the most profitable horror film series of all-time – thanks to its miniscule production budgets – the Paranormal Activity movie franchise, which helped to usher in a new era of found footage-styled movies, has spookily invaded Max’s movie library this month.

Or, at the very least, the first five entries in the series have. Pleasingly, that quintet are the five highest-rated flicks in the franchise, with the most recent duo – The Ghost Dimension and Next of Kin – failing to spark the same interest as their forebears. If you’re searching for some frightening and tension-filled horror films to stream over the festive period, you can do far worse than watching this contingent.

Scooby-Doo! And Krypto, Too!

Release date: December 25

Looking to keep the kids entertained while you cook Christmas dinner? This direct-to-streaming Scooby Doo film might be the perfect distraction method. You know, if your children aren’t obsessing over the new toys you – ahem, we mean Santa – brought them.

A crossover film that sees the Mystery Inc. gang and DC‘s most iconic superheroes – the latter of whom have gone missing, leading Lois Lane to enlist the help of Scooby and his human friends – Scooby Doo! And Krypto, Too! sees the two canines join forces to get to the bottom of a no-doubt-jinkies filled mystery.

With a runtime of 76 minutes (including credits), it isn’t the longest movie that’ll keep the kid quiet. But hey, it makes for an easy watch and beats the alternative of getting them to agree on choosing one of the many DCEU films to stream instead.
