The Nintendo Switch is an undeniably fantastic gaming console. Not only is it extremely convenient for taking on the go, but it’s also home to some of the best games of the past few years that you simply can’t get elsewhere — The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Fire Emblem: Three Houses, just to name a few.
But the one decidedly not-so-great aspect of the Switch is the included Joy-Con controllers. They’re known to lose their motion control accuracy after a while, and they’re pretty much the opposite of ergonomic (don’t even get us started on playing multiplayer games with split Joy-Con controllers…yikes).

The classic Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers might not be perfect, but it’s still always good to have a second pair (reasons listed above). The motion-controlled twin remotes can be used standalone while your Switch is in docked or propped mode, or they can be conveniently attached to the sides of the Switch screen for handheld play. The Nintendo Switch Joy-Con

Nintendo Switch Pro Controller — $59
The Pro Controller will look and feel far more familiar to those who have a lot of gaming experience. It mimics the traditional style of gaming controllers, but adds in some vital Switch functions like motion controls, amiibo support, and HD Rumble, all in a more ergonomic and comfortable design. Just don’t go trying to attach it to your Switch. Get one at Amazon or Walmart and save $10.
