In 2019, the Star Wars fanbase didn’t hesitate to take in obsess over a new character: The one we all know now as Jedi Padawan Grogu Djarin Mudhorn but will forever refer to as Baby Yoda. That was the same year that we were introduced to a line of Star Wars Instant Pots featuring the likeness of R2-D2, C3P0, and BB-8.
Naturally, the only character that can compete with a Porg’s cuteness has been slapped on the only cooker that can compete with the Ninja Foodi. (Some avid watchers of The Mandalorian are very fine with never seeing those huge eyes again — others want his face on every damn thing in their house.) Yes, an Instant Pot Duo featuring The Child exists, and it’s on sale for $69.98 at Williams-Sonoma. For reference, Amazon’s asking price for the same model is $99.95.
Grogu’s favorite Instant Pot function — the egg cooker — is actually not present in the Duo like it is in more advanced models. However, this classic beginner’s Instant Pot can still perform seven functions that would typically require multiple appliances: It’s a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, steamer, sauté pan, yogurt maker, and warmer. These would be perfect for other Baby Yoda favorites, like soup (a cup of warm bone broth) or some sautéed onions on top of prime rib (“something with bones in it“). You could even attempt some recipes out of the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook, which is on sale at Amazon.
Much like the Razor Crest, the Instant Pot Duo’s panel of buttons is loaded. 13 built-in smart programs like bean/chili, meat/stew, soup/broth, congee, and rice will automatically adjust the timing, temperature, and other settings to nail the perfect texture without trial and error on your part. Adding Instant Pot’s crisping lid to your arsenal expands the Duo’s menu to air fried snacks.
