Repeated letters are quite common in the game, with 748 of the 2,309 Wordle answers containing one. However, it’s still more likely that a Wordle doesn’t have one.

H is a regular visitor to the final spot in a Wordle word. It occurs 137 times at the end of a Wordle answer, making it the sixth most common letter there.

Today’s Wordle answer (game #1132)

Today’s Wordle answer (game #1132) is… PORCH.
It’s our second P-starting answer in three days, and this one is even easier than Tuesday’s PRONG, which had an average of 3.9. In contrast, WordleBot says PORCH has an average of 3.6, possibly reflecting the fact that the CH ending is more common than the NG in that earlier solution; CH is the second most common ending of all, after ER, and appears in 56 of the game’s 2,309 original solutions, whereas NG is in 38.
I found it to be exactly as easy as PRONG, scoring a three again, following the four for yesterday’s FORTE. I didn’t get off to a particularly good start, admittedly, with my random opener of NEIGH leaving 80 answers. But on the plus side, it did give me that H at the end of the word. There were better openers out there; CRANE left 15, TRACE three and PARSE only two.
Two was how many options I had following my second guess, ROAST, which added an R and O into the mix for me. Better still was the fact that with -O–H confirmed, the R pretty much had to go after the O; it was ruled out of the first position, and RH is not a common combination at all (only MYRRH has that format, as far as I know). So in reality, I had -OR-H.
With S and T also ruled out now, that fourth letter was almost certain to be a C or a P; there aren’t many other letters that can go directly before an H, and another one, G, had also been ruled out by now.
And so it proved: PORCH and MORPH were the only two I could find, and also the only two that WordleBot came up with after I’d finished playing. So I had a 50/50, and on this occasion guessed correctly for my 3/6.

Yesterday’s Wordle hints (game #1131)
In a different time zone where it’s still Wednesday? Don’t worry – I can give you some clues for Wordle #1131, too.
- Wordle yesterday had vowels in two places.

- The first letter in yesterday’s Wordle answer was F.
F is a very common starting letter in Wordle. It ranks seventh behind only S, C, B, T, P and A and overall there are 135 solutions that begin with this letter.
- There were no repeated letters in yesterday’s Wordle.
Repeated letters are quite common in the game, with 748 of the 2,309 Wordle answers containing one. However, it’s still more likely that a Wordle doesn’t have one.
- The last letter in yesterday’s Wordle was E.
E is the most common letter to end a Wordle answer by far. That’s one of the reasons why many of the best start words, including SLATE, CRANE, CRATE and STARE, all end with one.

Yesterday’s Wordle answer (game #1131) was… FORTE.
I suspect this one might cause people a few problems. Admittedly, I base that on the fact that it caused me a few problems, mostly because the word FORTE simply did not occur to me. It looks like it should have an accent, right? But it doesn’t. Whether that was the reason why it didn’t make my shortlist, I’m not sure, but it completely escaped my notice until late on.
WordleBot says it has an average score of 4.0, which makes it the toughest since REFER last Friday and slightly above Tuesday’s PRONG (3.9). There’s nothing else unduly difficult about it – all five letters are common, with the exception of F, which is 19th overall. But even with that one, it’s the seventh most common starting letter, so not exactly rare in this scenario. So I can only guess that its relatively unusual spelling must be the main complicating factor.
It’s one where several popular starting words cut the options to an extent, at least. CRANE left 46, STARE only 16, SLATE 14; the less commonly played CARTE a mere two. But in my case, I had a shortlist – sorry, longlist – of 291. Nasty. That was due to my random word generator giving me GOING, which would have been very helpful with yesterday’s PRONG but which today gave me only a single green O.
As is always the case for me, I wanted to guard against the risk of an ER word – or rather, to guard against the risk of learning it was an ER word late on. So I played LOSER next. With hindsight, I should have gone for something else that didn’t include the O, because I already knew that was green so could have instead gained info about another common letter. But anyway, LOSER was a good choice in the sense that I “lucked out”, as WordleBot put it, and reduced the options to five.
I found three of them: FORCE, HORDE and ROUTE. However, I missed TORTE and FORTE. Would I have played either of them if I had found them? Probably not, but we’ll never know… Anyway, I went with FORCE, and though that was wrong it left only FORTE as an option, so I played that once I realized my mistake and scored a four.

What is Wordle?
If you’re on this page then you almost certainly know what Wordle is already, and indeed have probably been playing it for a while. And even if you’ve not been playing it, you must surely have heard of it by now, because it’s the viral word game phenomenon that took the world by storm last year and is still going strong in 2024.
We’ve got a full guide to the game in our What is Wordle page, but if you just want a refresher then here are the basics.
What is Wordle?
Wordle challenges you to guess a new five-letter word each day. You get six guesses, with each one revealing a little more information. If one of the letters in your guess is in the answer and in the right place, it turns green. If it’s in the answer but in the wrong place, it turns yellow. And if it’s not in the answer at all it turns gray. Simple, eh?
It’s played online via the Wordle website or the New York Times’ Crossword app (iOS / Android), and is entirely free.
Crucially, the answer is the same for everyone each day, meaning that you’re competing against the rest of the world, rather than just against yourself or the game. The puzzle then resets each day at midnight in your local time, giving you a new challenge, and the chance to extend your streak.
What are the Wordle rules?
The rules of Wordle are pretty straightforward, but with a couple of curveballs thrown in for good measure.
1. Letters that are in the answer and in the right place turn green.
2. Letters that are in the answer but in the wrong place turn yellow.
3. Letters that are not in the answer turn gray.
4. Answers are never plural.
5. Letters can appear more than once. So if your guess includes two of one letter, they may both turn yellow, both turn green, or one could be yellow and the other green.
6. Each guess must be a valid word in Wordle’s dictionary. You can’t guess ABCDE, for instance.
7. You do not have to include correct letters in subsequent guesses unless you play on Hard mode.
8. You have six guesses to solve the Wordle.
9. You must complete the daily Wordle before midnight in your timezone.
10. All answers are drawn from Wordle’s list of 2,309 solutions. However…
11. Wordle will accept a wider pool of words as guesses – some 10,000 of them. For instance, you can guess a plural such as WORDS. It definitely won’t be right (see point 4 above), but Wordle will accept it as a guess.
