Hey! Have you heard the news? In an extremely 2020 plot twist, aliens might be real after all.
Yeah, yeah. We know that alien theories are usually easily squashed. Heck, in 2017 we even published an article titled, “It’s not aliens. It’s never aliens. Stop saying it’s aliens.” But maybe things have changed, OK?
On Monday, the New York Times reported on a new study in the journal Nature Astronomy, which found a possible sign of life on Venus. The study says that phosphine — a gas that is made by microbial life on Earth — was detected in the planet’s atmosphere, which essentially means there could be life on the planet.
Though the presence of phosphine in the planet’s atmosphere doesn’t definitively mean lifeforms are chilling in the clouds of Venus, researchers have yet to find another explanation. So the experts are genuinely considering aliens at this point.
Upon hearing the news that maybe, just maybe, aliens are out there, Twitter users naturally coped by making memes. The platform is flooded with alien tweets galore, and you know what? We’ve all been through a lot, so let’s just embrace this latest chaotic update.
