The state of play
The state of play is this:
If you’re after a PS5 Pro, then there’s a whole host of options to choose from now, and all the links below are worth checking out and can be used to place a PS5 Pro pre-order.
If you’re after the PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary then the picture is bleak. Stock of this console lasted mere minutes, as we sort of predicted. You can still check for stock today in the off chance something comes back, but it’s probably better to go in expecting to see nothing now.
The morning after the event…
Good morning! This is Rob Dwiar, Managing Editor for TechRadar Gaming again, and I’m back and here to see if we can find any morsels of UK and US PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary console and to summarise what we can make of the PS5 Pro pre-order situation.
In short, if you’re after the former, it’s looking a bit bleak, but if you’re after the latter, then things are looking incredibly rosy.
Alright, as we enter 11 p.m. ET on October 10, 2024, it’s about time for a wrap-up post on what has been an exciting day for folks hoping to score the 30th Anniversary PS5 console or the PS5 Pro.
As expected, the more popular of the two was certainly the 30th Anniversary collection, with the console selling out fast and not even appearing for preorders on Amazon in the United States. Similarly, the matching DualSense controller was hard to find, and one that I am searching for. Those still on the hunt for the console, the controller, or even the 30th Anniversary bundle will want to keep checking the links above and hope for more supply on the launch date.
If you’re still after a PS5 Pro, the odds are a bit better as it’s still available from several retailers in the US and UK. I’ll list all the links you need below.
This is Jake signing off for now, but TechRadar Gaming’s Managing Editor, Rob Dwiar, will pick this up again on October 11, 2024.
PS5 Pro bundles are real and made an appearance today
We wondered whether retailers would build and offer their own PS5 Pro bundles today, and we did see a few of those become available.
In the US, Antonline is offering various bundles that include an extra DualSense, starting at prices of $779.78. This is a welcome start, even if such US bundles didn’t include the disc drive or stand.
We even saw the EE Store in the UK offer a PS5 Slim Anniversary Edition bundle with an extra controller and a gift card! That was pretty terrific.
This gives us hope that we’ll see more PS5 Pro bundles from retailers in the future.
Even though the 30th Anniversary DualSense controller sold out, it’s worth remembering that there are some other really slick new variants of the PS5 pad up for preorder. Seriously, these are not to be passed on, especially if you appreciate a pop of color.
The Chroma collection consists of three chic metallic-finished colorways: Indigo, Teal, and Pearl. These colorways are particularly dreamy and will make any setup sparkle.
The Fortnite DualSense controller is also up for preorder and is perfect for fans of the battle royale game with a graffiti-like design and not-so-serious cartoony aesthetic.
It might not be the 30th anniversary DualSense, but these cool designs are worth a look in it’s absence.
While the PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary Digital Edition bundle and DualSense were clearly the headline acts today, let’s spare a thought for the DualSense Edge and PlayStation Portal.
These slick members of the 30th Anniversary Collection didn’t even get a look in today or barely a mention in the conversation!
That might be because they’re relatively niche and because they were PlayStation Direct exclusives too, but, sadly, they were no-shows too – it was all about the Pro and the PS5 Slim today, after all.
If you want to check for the DualSense Edge and PlayStation Portal quickly, though, these are the best links to check at PS Direct. And yes, they do sport the same epic-ally retro theming as the rest of the 30th Anniversary collection.
Many folks (including us) hoped that the 30th Anniversary DualSense controller would be stable restocked. Sadly, that has not been the case.
We have seen flashes of stock in the UK and the US throughout today, but unfortunately, it’s been ‘blink and you miss it.’ We can only hope that launch day next month might bring another chance. If you’re marking your calendar, the launch date is November 21, 2024.
In the meantime, it’s always worth rechecking links, so here are the best ones for the DualSense.
While the PS5 Pro console remains in stock at Amazon, Target, Walmart, and Best Buy in the United States – all for $699.99 (USD) – it seems that stock of the 30th Anniversary PS5 Slim console bundle has run dry, or never appeared at all.
The 30th Anniversary Edition Bundle, which includes the PS5 Slim and DualSense controller decked in an epic design, is out of stock at PS Direct, Walmart, Best Buy, and Target. Target’s listing page reads, “Preorders have sold out Check back on release date,” which leads us to believe it’s not expecting a restock till the formal street date of November 21, 2024. Best Buy again shows it as “Coming Soon,” with pickup and shipping currently unavailable.
Amazon still has a listing page for the 30th Anniversary, but it’s listed as “Currently unavailable.” We didn’t see it go up for preorder today on Amazon in the United States, but it’s still worth watching in case it does appear.
If you are looking for a PS5 Pro, you’re in luck. Stock is still available in the US and the UK.
While Amazon has listing pages for the 30th Anniversary PS5 Slim Edition and the themed DualSense controller, both are still showing as “Currently unavailable.” Furthermore, while Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and GameStop have had stock, we haven’t seen Amazon put any up for preorder yet. Those retailers went back to unavailable quickly, with GameStop releasing what they had in batches on the hour.
It’s worth noting that the PS5 Pro console is still available for preorder at some retailers. We’re still keeping an eye on the 30th Anniversary console, as there is always a chance Amazon could turn on the preorder option.
Here are direct links for the listing pages on Amazon:

Once more for luck: don’t forget the disc drive and stand
If you got your desired PS5 Pro pre-order, then – and we know we’ve mentioned this already – don’t forget your disc drive and vertical stand that you’ll need to get separately if you wish to fully kit out your new console when it arrives.
Luckily, we have a dedicated page on where to buy a PS5 disc drive that covers both accessories. Alternatively, you can head straight to a retailer using the links below to lock in your order.
There’s one more GameStop Pro stock drop coming of the Anniversary console at 3pm ET – if the retailer has stock to offer
The last of the PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Edition bundle stock for GameStop Pro members is about to become available. If you have a membership and haven’t placed a pre-order yet, we recommend acting quickly to try to lock one in.
It might be too late now with just moments to go, but if you’re not a member, you can still sign up for $25 a year.
Remember: regular PS5 Pro stock is widely available now
While the disappointment of missing out on the PS5 Slim Anniversary Edition console is going to sting for many, it’s not all been bad news: the good news is that the PS5 Pro is readily available to pre-order at loads of retailers on both sides of the Atlantic right now.
Here’s a selection of the best links to use if that’s what you’re after.
Get ready: the next GameStop Pro wave is coming in a few minutes at 2pm ET
Another GameStop stock reminder here. If you’re out of the loop, the company is putting up 600 units of the PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Edition bundle on the hour for GameStop Pro members. Use the links below to see if there’s any available right now and refresh on the hour.
If you’re not a GameStop Pro member, you can join for $25 a year.
Hello again – Jake Krol, TechRadar’s Managing Editor for News, here, and it’s been a busy morning. We’ve seen the PS5 Pro and the 30th Anniversary Collection come in stock at both UK and US retailers and then sell out in some cases. However, we’re all eyeing Amazon right now to see when and if any units of the 30th Anniversary PS5 Slim or the epic-looking themed DualSense Controller make an appearance.
Stick with us as we continue tracking the second wave of preorders for PlayStation’s latest kit. Your next chance will be at GameStop at 2pm ET, but you must be a Pro member. And if you’re after the PS5 Pro, is it still readily available from most retailers. It seems the 30th Anniversary Collection is the most wanted.
GameStop Pro members have another chance in a few minutes
If you’re a GameStop Pro member, it’s worth bearing in mind that GameStop is just about to release its next batch of PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary Bundle stock at 1pm ET. The company claims that it’s only releasing 600 at a time, so make sure to act quickly using the links below on hour so that you don’t miss out.
If you’re not a member, you can join GameStop Pro for $25 a year.
It’s all gone a bit quiet…
After the initial flurry of action and the subsequent peaks and troughs of stock, it feels like it’s all died down a bit now. PS5 Pro pre-orders are now live in both the US and UK and holding nicely, but the PS5 Slim Anniversary Digital Edition pre-orders have sold out and flew by in an instant. We’ve all seen the movie before, and it came to pass once again.
However, we’re still waiting for Amazon US to do something – like activate it – with its PS5 Slim Anniversary Digital Edition pre-order page. We’re almost certain that it hasn’t been ‘turned on’ at any point today which means it’s one to hover over continuously as the day progresses…
GameStop’s PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary Bundle battle royale has begun!
Here’s a bit of a weird update. In a recent post to X / Twitter, GameStop has confirmed that it will be stocking 600 PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary Bundles every hour for GameStop Pro members, effectively creating a bit of a shopping battle royale with the highly desirable bundle.
There will be six drops, with times provided for each in EST. There are four left to go, so expect some stock to appear at 11 AM, 12 PM, 1 PM, 2PM, and 3 PM. If you’re a GameStop Pro member, this could be one of your last opportunities to pick up the limited edition bundle before it’s too late.
If you’re not a member, you can join GameStop Pro for just $25 a year, which will presumably give you a shot at the next wave.
What if you didn’t manage to get a 30th Anniversary Edition pre-order?
If you missed out on today’s rapid PS5 Slim and DualSense 30th Anniversary Edition pre-orders, you might not want to throw the towel in just yet. Some retailers are listing the release date (November 21) of these limited edition products on the store page. While by no means a guarantee, there’s every chance more stock could find its way onto store shelves come the release date proper, especially if some folks are cancelling their existing pre-orders.
Failing that, some enticing bundles are available for the standard PS5 Slim Digital Edition. One such bundle includes the console and a copy of NBA 2K25, which you can find at PlayStation Direct at a discounted $449.99 (was $499.99). While the game certainly won’t be to everyone’s tastes, it’s a decent way to get the Slim version of the console at a reduced price.
Walmart’s pre-order button is back
Walmart’s blue button for pre-ordering the PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary Digital Edition is back it seems. We’ve been able to see the blue button on multiple devices so hope that means more stock is available – keep trying!
Listing pages live at Amazon and GameStop for Limited Edition PS5 Slim…
Listing pages are now live at Amazon and GameStop for the PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle – yippee! Though in less positive news, it appears as though there is no actual stock right now. Both listings are showing as “currently unavailable” and “not available” respectively.
These two retailers were quite late to get in on the pre-order action and there’s no telling whether they are done for good. We would recommend using the links below to keep both pages on hand so you can spring into action if stock comes back…
However, Best Buy is flashing on and off…
Having been all doom and gloom, we’ve actually seen Best Buy’s PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary listing page go on and off repeatedly for a few minutes now, so it’s absolutely worth trying and being patient and persistent.
Well, that was quick…
We have been primed and ready all day for this moment, and we were delighted to see actual stock available – but it looks like PS5 Slim Anniversary Edition console bundles have gone as quickly as they arrived.
We are now seeing the ‘Coming Soon’ button at Best Buy, a grayed-out price at Walmart, and an adding to cart error at Target.
Amazon’s regular PS5 Pro pre-orders are up – but where is the PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary Edition?
Amazon has finally come to the party and has its regular PS5 Pro pre-order page up and running.
However, its PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary Edition page has just disappeared from sight…
Best Buy is a go! Remember to log in though!
Best Buy has stock of both regular PS5 Pro pre-orders and PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary Digital Edition pre-orders right now – both listings have glorious yellow Pre-order buttons!
Target has PS5 Pro stock live – but not the 30th Anniversary PS5 Slim…
Target’s PS5 Pro pre-orders are live again! Follow the link to get yours from that retailer.
Sadly, Target’s PS5 Slim Anniversary Digital Edition looks to be out of stock, though the page is live and you can click on ‘Preorder now’.
Walmart is live!
Walmart is live and the PS5 Slim Anniversary Edition can be pre-ordered right now!
PS5 Pro pre-orders at Walmart are live as well, and there’s a queue live as far as we can see so hit that up immediately!
