Spring cleaning has a different energy this year. For those of us who have spent 90% of our time at home over the past 11 months, the idea of dedicating a day to more time with the dust bunnies isn’t exactly refreshing.
Consider a robot vacuum as your next quarantine purchase. Samsung’s End of Winter event menu includes $250 price cuts on both of the POWERbot vacuums, taking one model down to $249 and the other to $349.
The POWERbots are all but identical on the outside (that is, unless you can tell the difference between “satin titanium” and “neutral grey”). Both sport one flat edge that can wedge itself into corners, and Samsung asserts that it delivers 40 times more powerful cleaning than a conventional circular design. Sensors and cameras on board run on Visionary Mapping Plus and FullView Sensor 2.0: Samsung’s latest navigation tech that keeps tabs on which rooms have already been cleaned and which obstacles to avoid. Large (but not particularly cute) wheels allow the POWERbot to breeze between carpets, rugs, and hard floors, with suction level customized to the type of flooring.
The mobile app is home to manual preferences (such as quiet mode or scheduled cleanings), though the LCD screen on top of the vacuum itself provides info (like time left and battery life) without the need to check your phone.
The main difference between the two is suction power and battery life: The $249 model maxes out at 10W and 60 minutes of run time, while dishing out $349 gets you 20W and 90 minutes. Both models will automatically return to their docks when a nap is needed.
