TL;DR: The <a href=Apple Watch Series 5 (GPS, 40mm, Pink Sand) is on sale for $299 at Walmart as of Sept. 18. That’s $130 off its original retail price and $30 less than its big price drop on Amazon earlier in the week.

No need to wait for Prime Day or Black Friday deals — one of the best times to find a smartwatch on sale is right after the brand that you’re eyeing announces a new model. It’s like clockwork.

Take for example Samsung’s Galaxy Fit2 announcement at the beginning of September. A day or two later, the first Galaxy Fit Active tracker saw a 50% price cut. It’s still on sale for $49.99. Try to tell us that’s a coincidence.

But this week’s big news (aside from that tiny PS5 announcement) was Apple’s introduction of a new iPad Pro and two new Apple Watches. You can see where this is going. Two days after the Apple Event, we saw some unprecedented (albeit fleeting) price drops on the next-to-newest iPad Pro and the Apple Watch Series 3 and 5. Most of those sales disappeared within a few hours.

But for anyone looking for a new Apple Watch who doesn’t want to drop money on the Series 6, we’re about to do you one better: Walmart has the pink Apple Watch Series 5 (GPS, 40mm) on sale for $299. That’s $30 cheaper than its sale price at Amazon yesterday and a total of $130 off its original retail price. If you see it while it’s still in stock, smash that “add to cart” button.

What would you be missing out on if you opt for the Series 5 instead of the Series 6? Aside from a more vivid display and a brawny processor that Apple claims runs 20 percent faster — spec upgrades that you might not even notice because the Series 5 is still one of the best smartwatches on the market — the biggest difference is the addition of a blood-oxygen detection sensor. Apple is using the results to study how COVID affects the respiratory system. Design wise, the Series 5 and Series 6 are as identical as Lindsay Lohan playing both twins: same OLED display, digital crown, and rounded edges.
