Students graduating in 2020 may not have had the in-person commencement speeches they were hoping for, but thanks to Beyoncé, the cast of Schitt’s Creek and The Simpsons, they certainly got some memorable virtual inspiration.

The Simpsons‘ contribution to Sunday’s livestreamed YouTube Originals event Dear Class of 2020 started in unsurprisingly chaotic fashion: with a split-screen of Homer, Marge, Lisa, and Bart, out of whom only Lisa appeared to be taking her speech responsibilities seriously.

“Well, the job is to be inspirational, and there are plenty of good things: the air is cleaner than every,” she says, before being abruptly cut off by Homer bursting into the room.

“And drinking at home at 10 in the morning is not only acceptable,” he smiles, “it’s called coping.”

“And, not having friends over is seen as a healthy choice, instead of basic unpopularity,” adds Lisa.

Next she goes on to say that people are eating less meat, and animal shelters have found homes for all their pets.

“Which is unconnected to the lack of meat, I’m pretty sure,” Homer responds.

The sign Lisa holds up at the end – “Congrats Class of 2020: Please save us” – is perhaps the most apt moment.

If you are looking for inspiration, though, Beyoncé certainly did a hell of a job.
