TL;DR: As of Aug. 18, Samsung’s 65-inch Q60R 4K smart TV is on sale for just $749.99 at Best Buy and Amazon — that’s nearly $1,050 off its original retail price of $1,797.99.
Trying to watch this week’s virtual Democratic National Convention on a TV with gorgeous 4K clarity and 100 percent color volume? Of course you are.
Get this: Amazon and Best Buy both have last year’s best-selling 65-inch Samsung Q60R 4K smart TV listed at a mere $749.99. The price-tracking site camelcamelcamel shows it originally retailed for $1,797.99 upon its release in Feb. 2019, so you’ll be saving a whole 58% by snagging it on sale. (FYI: Samsung doesn’t sell this model on its website anymore now that its 2020 QLED displays are on the market, so don’t bother looking elsewhere for this pricing.)

A stellar alternative to Sony and LG’s premium OLED TVs, Samsung QLED displays like the Q60R enlist teeny light-emitting nanoparticles called quantum dots to produce extremely detailed colors. The resulting picture has over a billion different hues and impeccable contrast and sharpness, making these kinds of TVs great for immersive activities like gaming.
The Q60R brings a number of other premium features to the table, including two 10W speakers, built-in parental controls, an “Ambient Mode” that can display artwork, and an “Intelligent Mode” that automatically adapts its picture brightness and sound based on ambient conditions. As a ~smart~ TV, it’s also compatible with virtual assistants like Alexa, Bixby, and the Google Assistant for hands-free voice control.
