In an attempt to get a head start on the competition, most of the leading retailers have announced their plans for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, with plenty of early access deals already available. You should know by now that Black Friday does not take part over a weekend. It’s a month (or more) of deals on absolutely everything, including consoles, TVs, laptops, headphones, vacuums, kitchen appliances, and much more.
You could spend hours or days looking through all the plans for this hectic season of shopping, or you could let someone else do that for you. We’ve gone through announcements from the likes of Amazon, Currys, Argos, and more to pull out the best deals on the tech, kitchen gadgets, and gaming stuff that we think you’ll care about.
Shopping advice for Black Friday 2020
-
Best place to buy AirPods: All the main players will be offering competitive rates on Apple AirPods during Black Friday. It’s worth keeping an eye on how the situation develops, but we expect Currys PC World and Amazon to offer the best rates. It’s also important to figure out which model you want to pick up before prices start to fall. You should be able to find deals on AirPods and AirPods Pro, with and without charging cases.
-
Best place to buy a Nintendo Switch: The Nintendo Switch is always super popular during big shopping events like Black Friday, and we can’t see the situation changing in 2020. Amazon has already dropped impressive deals on console bundles. but we expect plenty of competition from the likes of eBay, Currys, and Nintendo. You should also be able to find impressive offers on the Nintendo Switch Lite, games, and accessories.
-
Best place to buy an Xbox: Amazon, Argos, and Currys are all good spots for finding decent Xbox deals. We’re talking about consoles, games, and bundles. You can find all of this over Black Friday and Cyber Monday. CD Keys is tough to beat when it comes to gaming subscriptions, and we expect to see solid discounts on the Xbox Game Pass.
-
Best place to buy a PlayStation: The situation for PlayStation deals is pretty much the same as Xbox. You are likely to find decent console and bundle deals on the PS4, particularly given the release of the PS5. We don’t expect to see any significant savings on next-gen consoles this year. It’s a little too soon for that, but you never know. Some retailers may offer bundle deals, but given stock issues, we can’t see this happening. You should be able to find strong PlayStation Plus deals on CD Keys as we get closer to Black Friday.
-
Best place to buy a laptop: There are going to be a lot of laptop deals over Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and we recommend checking out Dell and Amazon for the best deals. The likes of Argos, Currys, and AO will also have some pretty decent offers, but Dell and Amazon are tough to beat at this time of year. We’re expecting Amazon to run with some deals on popular models like the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and Microsoft Surface.
-
Best place to buy a vacuum: Vacuums are likely to be one of the most popular items on Black Friday, and you’ll be able to find deals on handheld vacuums, robot vacuums, and upright vacuums from all the major retailers. In recent years, the best deals have been found on Amazon, but we expect a lot of competition from Currys in 2020.
-
Best place to buy a TV: There are going to be a lot of TV deals available for Black Friday, and you can already find plenty of impressive offers in the Currys PC World Black Tag event. You’re guaranteed to get the best Black Friday deal from Currys in this event, so there is no need to wait for something better. Elsewhere, we expect to see a lot of deals on Amazon, but much closer to the big day.
Black Friday is a busy and potentially stressful period for deal seekers, so it pays to know where to shop. You can save yourself a lot of hassle by looking for deals in the right place.
What to expect from Amazon in Black Friday 2020
Amazon is a special kind of beast on Black Friday. Besides the fact that there are no physical Amazon shops to actually shop in, it doesn’t release a full Black Friday plan like other retailers do. What we do know is that there are going to be a lot of deals on absolutely everything, including its own range of devices.
If you’re in the market for Echo, Fire TV, Fire Tablet, Kindle, or Blink devices, you should be in luck. Amazon seems to always use Black Friday and Cyber Monday to push its own products, and this year will almost definitely be the same. You should also be able to find plenty of offers on its subscription services, including Amazon Music Unlimited and Kindle Unlimited.
What to expect from Argos in Black Friday 2020
Argos is known for offering competitive discounts on consumer technology, gaming products, and toys. We’re also expecting deals on the most popular things like Nintendo, Lego, Apple, and more.
Last year, Argos dropped absolutely loads of gaming deals, so this year could be a repeat. It could be a particularly good moment to find deals on Xbox One and PS4 bundles, as these are no longer the latest consoles. You should also find plenty of TV deals to play your new games on, including discounted devices from massive brands like Samsung and LG.
There is no guarantee that Argos will behave similarly to last year, but we would be surprised not to see more deals on AirPods, kitchen essentials, laptops, and more.
What to expect from Currys in Black Friday 2020
People are buying bigger TVs and Currys is listening. Instead of grabbing the cheapest TV that fits on the TV stand they already have, at-home 4K streaming and voice commands have people splurging on elaborate home entertainment set-ups.
Currys will be one of the best places to bag a 65-inch or bigger 4K TV this year, especially high-end OLED or QLED models from Samsung, LG, and Sony. You can already pick up discounted sets in the Black Tag event (running until Nov. 19), with best prices guaranteed. If Currys lowers its prices further on Black Friday, it will refund you the difference on your purchase. To qualify for this, all you need to do is register your purchase within 14 days. So why wait?
Black Friday is all about preparation, and this is where we can help. We will keep you posted on the best deals and ways to shop over the coming weeks, so you can be prepared for the big day. We recommend making a list of your most wanted items and keeping a tab on what the top retailers are offering. This way you’ll know what represents a genuinely good deal.
Be prepared and get ready to save.
