Today is one of those days when you might not need any Wordle clues – because it’s a pretty straightforward one. The NYT’s WordleBot tool says people are solving in 3.6 guesses, making it the easiest answer in nearly a week, and some of the best Wordle starting words leave you just a handful of possible answers.
That said, you still might find some clues to be helpful. If you got off to a bad start or just suffered some poor luck, you might be staring at a 5/6 or worse – and that’s where I can be your guide.
I’m a Wordle addict who’s been playing since December 2021, so I can definitely help you solve Wordle today and improve your game for tomorrow. Read on for my Wordle clues and hints to game #603 and bookmark this page so you can easily return tomorrow.

How many vowels does today’s Wordle have?
• Wordle today has two vowels*.
Getting two vowels in a Wordle answer is a lot more likely than getting one; there are 1,336 Wordle solutions containing two vowels, but only 732 that have one.
* Note that by vowel we mean the five standard vowels (A, E, I, O, U), not Y (which is sometimes counted as a vowel too).

• The first letter in today’s Wordle answer is G.
G is the eighth most common starting letter, featuring in 115 Wordle answers. It’s often paired with an L to make GL—, but I’m not revealing whether that’s the case today!

• There are no repeated letters in today’s Wordle.
Repeated letters are quite common in the game, with 748 of the 2,309 Wordle answers containing one. However, it’s still more likely that a Wordle doesn’t have one.

T is a very common letter to end a Wordle answer – in fact only E and Y are more likely in that position.

Wordle today (game #603) – the answer
The answer to today’s Wordle, game #603, is… GIANT.
Ah, that’s more like it. The past couple of games have been a little on the tough side, but GIANT shouldn’t cause too many problems. In fact, WordleBot says it has an average score of 3.6, which theoretically makes it the easiest since DANCE a week ago.
It’s easy to see why: G is surprisingly common at the start of a word, with 115 games beginning with that letter, while I ranks fifth when used as the second letter.
The other three letters are even more common – A is the most likely letter to be in the middle of an answer, N is the second most likely in position #4 and T is the third most common at the end.
Your task will have been made easier still if you used specific options among the best Wordle starting words. SLANT was the pick of WordleBot’s favorites: it left just five remaining answers. But SAINT was better still – if you began with that you had a guaranteed 2/6, as it only left one solution!
I played STARE, and though it wasn’t quite so successful, it still did the job nicely here, giving me a green A and yellow T.
I had just 14 answers left, WordleBot told me after the game, but really it was fewer than that. WordleBot’s choices included CHAAT and QUANT, which I very much doubt are actual answers, plus the almost-as-unlikely TOADY (which I also had in my own list). It also included TWANG, which I remembered being an answer back in August (game #425).
Others that I shortlisted were THANK, TWAIN, AWAIT, ADAPT, LOATH, PLAIT, GIANT, CHANT and PLANT. Unfortunately my memory wasn’t flawless, because I didn’t recall that the latter two had also been past answers.
As it happens I played PLANT next, because that –ANT ending seemed like a good one. And even if it was wrong, the P might point the point the way to ADAPT or PLAIT, or the N to THANK or TWAIN.
The final three letters duly turned green, leaving me with (I thought) a straight 50/50 between GIANT and CHANT. I could have gone either way here, but by now I had a vague sense that maybe CHANT had been a previous answer so played GIANT and was rewarded with a 3/6.

Wordle yesterday (game #602) – clues

- There were no repeated letters in yesterday’s Wordle.
- The last letter in yesterday’s Wordle was G.

Wordle yesterday (game #602) – the answer
The answer to yesterday’s Wordle, game #602, was… DEBUG.
Oh dear! If you thought Friday’s Wordle, HEADY, was on the more obscure side then you won’t like this. In fact, the Word And Phrase Info (opens in new tab) website says it ranks 34,499th among all English words. That’s seriously low down the list.
What’s more, it ends with a G. This is quite uncommon too, with just 41 Wordle answers having that format. Oh, and a B in the middle is almost as unlikely (56 answers). Even the U is the least common of the vowels.
This game was stacked against you from the start, then, and WordleBot says it has an average score of 4.3. And if that’s not as high as you might expect, it’s probably only because there aren’t that many other options to choose from.
Your choice of the best Wordle starting words won’t have helped much, either. The likes of SLATE, CRANE, CRATE and TRACE all left several hundred answers, as did my own favorite, STARE (249). DEALT would have been a good one here: just 14 remaining answers after playing that.
Obviously I wasn’t going to guess it in 2/6 this time, so I played BLEND next. WordleBot prefers LINED in this scenario, but I like using lots of consonants early, as vowels are easier to place later.
Well, today I got very lucky with that approach. BLEND gave me a yellow B and yellow D to go with the (still yellow) E. I thought I might have a few possibilities left to me, but could only come up with three: DEBUG, DEFIB and DEMOB.
I was by no means sure that any were actual answers, but DEBUG seemed the most likely, so I played that and scored my 3/6. WordleBot told me after the game that my hunch was right: neither DEFIB or DEMOB were answers, and in fact my second guess had narrowed it down to just one remaining solution. Phew!

What is Wordle?
If you’re on this page then you almost certainly know what Wordle is already, and indeed have probably been playing it for a while. And even if you’ve not been playing it, you must surely have heard of it by now, because it’s the viral word game phenomenon that took the world by storm last year and is still going strong in 2023.
We’ve got a full guide to the game in our What is Wordle page, but if you just want a refresher then here are the basics.
What is Wordle?
Wordle challenges you to guess a new five-letter word each day. You get six guesses, with each one revealing a little more information. If one of the letters in your guess is in the answer and in the right place, it turns green. If it’s in the answer but in the wrong place, it turns yellow. And if it’s not in the answer at all it turns gray. Simple, eh?
It’s played online via the Wordle website (opens in new tab) or the New York Times’ Crossword app (iOS (opens in new tab) / Android (opens in new tab)), and is entirely free.
Crucially, the answer is the same for everyone each day, meaning that you’re competing against the rest of the world, rather than just against yourself or the game. The puzzle then resets each day at midnight in your local time, giving you a new challenge, and the chance to extend your streak.
What are the Wordle rules?
The rules of Wordle are pretty straightforward, but with a couple of curveballs thrown in for good measure.
1. Letters that are in the answer and in the right place turn green.
2. Letters that are in the answer but in the wrong place turn yellow.
3. Letters that are not in the answer turn gray.
4. Answers are never plural.
5. Letters can appear more than once. So if your guess includes two of one letter, they may both turn yellow, both turn green, or one could be yellow and the other green.
6. Each guess must be a valid word in Wordle’s dictionary. You can’t guess ABCDE, for instance.
7. You do not have to include correct letters in subsequent guesses unless you play on Hard mode.
8. You have six guesses to solve the Wordle.
9. You must complete the daily Wordle before midnight in your timezone.
10. All answers are drawn from Wordle’s list of 2,309 solutions. However…
11. Wordle will accept a wider pool of words as guesses – some 10,000 of them. For instance, you can guess a plural such as WORDS. It definitely won’t be right (see point 4 above), but Wordle will accept it as a guess.
