Several major Google services are currently unavailable.

At the time of writing, Gmail and YouTube are returning an error message on access. We’ve tried the services from several geographic locations and gotten the same result.

The same goes for numerous other Google services, including Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Drive and even Google Maps (though not all users in all locations are seeing the same outages). Mobile version of these apps aren’t working as well. Google’s desktop Search seems to be unaffected.

Oddly enough, Google’s Workspace Status Dashboard shows everything is fine at writing time.

Downdetector, however, shows that basically all major Google services are currently experiencing serious issues.

Downdetector shows that Google is having some serious problems right now.

We’d contact Google about this issue to hear more but…as we’ve said, Gmail is down. Time to reflect on how dependent we all are on Google, and potentially take a breath of fresh air.
