These are bleak days for everyone. Even virtual critters, apparently.
Saturday Night Live capped off an abbreviated season on May 9, but NBC has continued to deliver digital shorts in the days that followed. The latest, released Friday, is a cut-for-time sketch in which cast members Melissa Villaseñor and Mikey Day link up over video chat to talk Animal Crossing.
Everything’s going fine until Villaseñor starts chatting up the residents of her island, Togethertown. The darkness of pandemic life is apparently starting to creep in for the normally sunny crew from New Horizons. Things get downright nasty.
It’s a fun sketch, made all the better by Villaseñor’s pitch-perfect impression – her specialty! – of Animal Crossing’s unintelligible voice lines.
