President Joe Biden has a message for the right-wing conspiracy theorists who were convinced he was rigging the Super Bowl in favor of Taylor Swift’s boyfriend: The plan went off without a hitch.

Shortly after the Super Bowl ended on Sunday, Biden gleefully trolled those who accused him and the Democrats of running a “Taylor Swift election interference psyop.” According to the theory, Biden orchestrated the victory of the Kansas City Chiefs, where Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce plays as a tight end, in exchange for her endorsement.

“Just like we drew it up,” the president said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Sunday night. The post included an image of a laser-eyed Biden known online as “Dark Brandon,” a meme that purports to represent the president’s more sinister alter ego who takes no shit.

The post built on a video posted by the Biden campaign on TikTok, where the president’s campaign asked him point blank if he was “deviously plotting to rig the season so the Chiefs would make the Super Bowl.”

“I’d get in trouble if I told you,” Biden said.

Right-wing influencers have been promoting the “Biden rigging the Super Bowl” conspiracy theory on full blast in recent weeks. On Jan. 29, former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy told Jack Posobiec, who promoted the Pizzagate conspiracy theory in 2016, that he wondered “who’s going to win the Super Bowl next month.”

“And I wonder if there’s a major presidential endorsement coming from an artificially culturally propped-up couple this fall. Just some wild speculation over here, let’s see how it ages over the next 8 months,” Ramaswamy said in an X post.

Other right-wing influencers, such as Rogan O’Handley, warned of impending doom if the Chiefs won the Super Bowl.

“[Y]ou MUST defeat the Chiefs,” O’Handley said in a post directly at the San Francisco 49s. “If you don’t, Mr. Pfizer [a name some right-wingers use to refer to Kelce] and his girlfriend are going to tour the country as ‘world champions’ helping elect Joe Biden. WW3 will likely follow in a 2nd Biden term and millions will die. The fate of the free world rests upon your shoulders. No pressure.”

While conspiracy theories about the Super Bowl being rigged aren’t new, the intense focus on Swift appears to be a manifestation of the anger she’s caused largely conservative men in recent months for being a rich and powerful woman—which she’s been for years—that shows up to football games to support her boyfriend.

Not all right-wingers are anti-Swift, though. On Sunday, former President Donald Trump took credit for part of Swift’s financial success, stating that it was he who signed the Music Modernization Act, legislation that reformed copyright law with the goal of providing more streaming royalties to artists and songwriters.

Because of that, Trump said the pop star’s support belonged to him, though some people who worked on the law claim all he did was sign it.

“Joe Biden didn’t do anything for Taylor, and never will. There’s no way she could endorse Crooked Joe Biden, the worst and most corrupt President in the History of our Country, and be disloyal to the man who made her so much money,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.” Besides that, I like her boyfriend, Travis, even though he may be a Liberal, and probably can’t stand me!”

Swift hasn’t announced who she will endorse in this year’s presidential election—or even whether she’ll reveal her choice publicly—but supporting Biden is a possibility. The pop star supported Biden in 2020, posting a selfie of herself with custom Biden-Harris cookies, and has previously criticized Trump for his handling of the covid-19 pandemic.

“The change we need most is to elect a president who recognizes that people of color deserve to feel safe and represented, that women deserve the right to choose what happens to their bodies, and that the LGBTQIA+ community deserves to be acknowledged and included,” Swift said when announcing her endorsement of Biden at that time.
